As I have mentioned, our Henny hatched two living chicks out in my garden. We moved them to the "nursery" in the barn, but she became very mean and nasty with us. She screamed whenever we stepped foot through the door. I suppose you can't blame an overprotective Momma (I'm one too, after all) but our bunnies are in the same barn, so we must come in from time to time.
The other day, my six year old was out doing his bunny chores when he came running in the house crying! He slammed the door behind him and ran to get a band-aid. Gasping, he explained that Henny had chased him all around the barn! On the way out the door, the poor boy had smacked his toe on something, so he was NOT happy with her...
Anyway, this evening I was frying chicken for supper and he walked in.

"Henny and I are friends again! She's not mad at me anymore and didn't even try to chase me!"
"That's great!" I say.
"But Mom, when she finds out that your cookin' her brother, she's not gonna speak to either of us!"
That child always makes me laugh!
