Show & Tell Friday
Posted in Show & Tell Friday

Back in 1893, when my great-grandmother Anna was two, a cobbler came to her home in Roanoke, Virginia to make shoes for the entire family. These were her first pair of shoes. Sweet, aren't they? Bless my grandma's heart for writing the story and keeping the card with them. She was so good to share all of the stories that her treasures told.

Next, is the prayer covering that belonged to my great-great-great Grandmother Harp. The picture doesn't show how lovely it really is, or the detail. I was actually going to put it on to show you, but I have dark hair and you couldn't see it well.
What a legacy of faith...

As always you have the sweetest gifts of your families history. I just love those little shoes.
There was a lady that came to our church several weeks back that wore a covering something like that, only hers was white. I hadn't ever seen one like that before, but thought that it was lovely.
Blessings,

How wonderful that you've been left with all this valuable and precious family items and histroy. My mother was not very sentimental and didn't keep much.....I think maybe that's why I go overboard and have kept things for years. I hope my kids and grand kids like and appreciate some of what I have.

What a great legacy to have for your children. Stories too often get lost and people lose interest...and heirlooms...so many families don't have them.
What a blessing!

If ever your family decides they don't want to keep these items, I do hope they will donate them to a museum. To have the provenance with the articles is so important - these are not only part of your family heritage, but your country's history as well. You are very fortunate! And very thoughtful as well, to want to preserve them.
