While winter winds blow and the snow falls, it's difficult to imagine the month of July, let alone plan for the County Fair. But today, we had to rush to the fair office with a check in hand for a chance to have a camping spot at the fairgrounds this year. Both of our older sons want to show hogs and considering that we live almost in the next county (about 40 minutes from the fairgrounds) it would suit us best to be able to stay out there during fair week. We won't find out until mid-February if we have "won" a spot (as they draw numbers), but there were several available this year so we stand a reasonable chance of getting one.
We are also preparing for our first measurable snowfall of the winter. If things happen as they care predicting, this weekend will be filled to the brim with sledding and snow fun. I also promised the boys that we'd make our first batch of snow ice cream of the year.
