Back from the doctor...
Thank you to those who have asked about my appointment and health. It always touches my heart to have "far away friends" who care so much. I saw my doctor new today and he is wonderful! I feel so blessed to have such a dear Christian man as a physician. His first thought based on my symptoms, age, etc., is that it would appear to be MS. However, I did not have any lesions as of my last MRI (in March) and without them, he cannot make that diagnosis.
The plan is to start eliminating things one by one until we have something definitive. I will be going through a couple of procedures within the next week or so. To begin, I'll have a nerve block done on the right side of my head. Depending on the response I have, this will help to determine whether the problem is in the nerve, a migraine, or if we are back to square one.
I also have a consult with a surgeon next week for a muscle biopsy in my right (weaker) leg. It will be done before Thanksgiving. My last EMG showed myopathy in both legs, the cause of which is unknown. Myopathies are caused by many things and I am trying not to be fearful about the possibilities. I do not research the Internet anymore to try to find clues or a diagnosis. It's a lot easier for me to just trust the Lord.
Again, thank you for asking about me and for praying for me. It means so much.

A baby girl! She's gonna be one guarded little girl with all those boys around! ha-ha-ha...I always dreamed of having a big brother.
I'm glad to hear you liked your new doctor. I am praying he will stick in to the very end and you'll get an answer. Smart thing not to look things up on the internet.
Sending up prayers...
Angela

I'm so sorry to hear that it may be MS. My mother has had MS for the last 20 years. Since it is not officially MS for you, you may look into how artificial sweeteners can create all the same symtoms as MS. You have likely already heard about all that, but just in case you hadn't...
Also, new research is showing a possibillity that MS is linked to gluten intollerance. Another thing to look at.
And I'm sure your doctor has already tested you for Lymes disease. But if he hasn't, I would absolutely recommend having that test done.
Gosh, I sound bossy! I hope I'm not overstepping any boundries by my suggestions. MS is a very taxing disease both on the individual and the family. It would be wonderful if there is a more simple fix to you symptoms.
Love in Christ,
CitySteader

You didn't sound bossy at all. I appreciate each and every comment. :-)
I do not use any artificial sweeteners, though for years, I did. I have often wondered if this is a result of that "poison." Funny you should mention gluten intolerance...I was reading something about that just today and it made me wonder. I have been tested for everything under the sun, though I know that sometimes, the result depends on the kind of test being done. (For example, I hear that there is a certain test for Lyme that is better than others and I have only had a basic blood test for it.) Again, thank you for your input. I do appreciate it. ~A

It always helps to have a doctor you like and feel like you can trust. My last neurologist was one who looked down on women which is sort of discouraging. It is good news that there are no new lesions, even though that leaves you without a definite answer, it's a good sign. Please keep us updated after the nerve block and the biopsy. These things are in God's hands, you're right in trusting Him. I'll talk to ya soon.
Love,
Sharon

Amy,
I was just thinking of you. I hope that everything works out really well! I'm glad that you like your new doctor. It's really important to have someone that you respect and trust as your physician. Again, please let me know if there's anything I can do.
I'm not sure if I told you this, but I printed out your blog from last December. I put it in a white binder along with Mrs. Wilt's Winter ebook. I am "in the Christmas spirit" and thought it would be neat to read tonight. Are you going to decorate in the same way?
Lastly, we are going to my in-laws whom live in Shelby for Thanksgiving week. If it's not too far for you maybe we could meet or get together. Just let me know. It's okay either way though I'd love to "meet" you.
Blessings,
~Farrah

I don't quite remember when I found your blog, but I do enjoy reading it. Your health issues touch my heart for about eight years ago, I began to present very troubling incidents myself. Then just three years also my daughter had her own set. Our issues were different and hers have in fact been resolved with the help of a wise neurologist. Mine were also diagnosed by a neurologist and have gradually gone with time and treatment for hypothyroidism.I had no idea that it could cause muscle weakness and nerve damage. I pray that this doctor have great wisdom and that the Lord continue to give you peace and healing in body and soul.
