~ Homestead Simplicity ~ |

all posters
Ya know simplicity doesnt mean easy, its just basic no other things allowing for what ever you want simple to be complicated. As with anything even keeping a routine on a homestead can be simplistic but hard work.
As I look around at what I am recently blessed with I sought the Lord last night to change in me my heart the need to try and mimic someone else or the likeness of others in the way I do things.... Or at least change in me my heart that makes me want to be like or even them, even if I know down right I am Jeannie and not so and so or even so and so.lol. Now given to saying that I am sure you may have a understanding of what I am meaning, quite possible you sometimes find your self in that rut also of trying to emulate some one else... wether be be a godly person or a worldly person. Now where am I going with this and what has it got to do with Homestead Simplicity? well this post is mainly for me, a post about who is in volved with my family homestead, What is involved in the keeping of our new to us home and property, When is it realistic for us to take on anything else or when will be a good goal to accomplish what already needs to be done, not merely based on what someone else is getting done on their home stead at any given time. Where will the means and time be given to accomplish such tasks anyways, and why do I allow what others are doing to precide in how I chose to go about my daily life? Even if they have no I idea I emulate their way of living and structure.
I am here to say I got up this morning at 7am woke the kids up and we headed outside into the morning crisp cold. The goal was to get the kids up early to get the new found fur babies their morning breakfast and fresh water.
I alloted my son the task of feeding Trisket, as carrying the water bucket is still to much for him to handle, plus feeding the pony allows him and her a chance to bond. Darling daughter fed the hen, while I gave each some fresh water. As I was doing this I explained to the kids this is our new found lifestyle and that we must each get used to the idea and actual work of what will be taking place when owning a homestead of any sort, we each are required to do our part in order for the animals to live happy and healthy. Plus its good work too... I even explained that as things progress and we aquire more "barn yard" chores( a statement my son laughed at due to some movie) they will be delegated as necessary but until then what we got now will be just enough.
Which I guess brings me to another part of what I am evaluating with in this homestead of ours as these are the few things I am pondering with to accomplish this Fall Season....
Fire wood, does need to be cut, quarted and laid out to dry....
(of hopes to have some wood for the winter)
Front Porch: I would like to see this clean and cleared of any debris
With a few fall plants in place for a added touch of WELCOME
Inside the house: Mainly just getting things settled and unpacked
(no renovations will take place at this time)
Around the Homestead Property: There is a section of the make shift
chicken coop that the sellers had that is clearly now
dangerous to not just the animals but for people
too, this must be cleared out
Homeschool Happenings: Get back into the routine of school lessons........
I hope to have a "daily routine" post on this tomorow or Monday but for now I am off to go help a friend take a load of stuff to the city dump and then build her well house( yes thats the well house I stepped my foot on the nail with)......Have a great day.

Okay, just read over your blog for the first time in several days. I must say, it's great to have you back!
Your place just sounds wonderful, and all your adopted pets...Meg is jealous of the pony:-)
Your kitchen is awesome. Oh, and I, too, have a couple of stories of God's provision and using stuff I already have. Isn't it awesome??
Missing you,
