Abundant Springs

My husband's family lives in the "poorest" county in Virginia.  Lee County, VA is located in extreme SW Virginia.  So *extreme* if you turn one way you're in Tennessee, turn the other you'll in up in Kentucky.

There are several historic sites, outdoor activities, alongside beautiful landscapes~powdered sugar mountains with icicles hanging from the rock faces lining the roads; creeks, streams, lakes and rivers; fields and farmhouses; and friendly people. 

It started me thinking that there are many areas of our country that are discounted or just plain overlooked as "tourist" sites but what we have around us in that little county in Virginia is some of the best~ it's our heritage and I'm proud of it.

I wanted to list a few of the *things to do* while traveling in the extreme part of SW Virginia, keeping in mind you just might end up in Tennessee or Kentucky!!

These are just a few of the attractions, activities and events in the small area in which our heart lives.

I am so excited! I have heard of this - Trail of the Lonesome Pine Outdoor Drama - through reading Adriana Trigiani books. I fell in love with the area through these books. It sounds truly beautiful. You are very fortunate to live in such a place.
