One Day....a Mountain in Virginia

What a wonderful place to learn!!

Thank you to the wonderful women mentors on the web that have helped me and they didn't even know it.

I have been learning so much about managing my household and family that I wanted to start documenting my journey to becoming.....

One day my family and I will have the privilege and pleasure to move to the mountains of Western Virginia.  I can hardly wait!!  However, in the meantime it is our hope to learn as much as we can about homesteading and becoming a self-sufficient family.

As I'm able, I'll be adding posts about my husband and children and the home we share here in Central Florida.

I have a wonderful family!!  God blessed me with a greatly supportive husband, 2 beautiful daughters and one wonderfully precocious (& precious) son!  I'm not sure we're done yet but I'll do that updating when it happens!

Currently, I'm leading a ladies group on Wednesday evenings in our church.  We're studying Life Management for Busy Women by Elizabeth George.  Boy, I need some life management!

I'm in the process of becoming an organized Keeper of our Home.  Many prayers are needed so that I'm able to create a peaceful home for my husband and children.  I'm slowly (very slowly) working through the clutter and I know there's an end in sight.

I just created my very first Home Management Binder and I'm very excited about it.

Along with being a stay-at-home mommy of 3, I am a representative for a few direct sales companies to earn some extra income for our family.  I would like to learn to sew (more than a curtain or tote bag!) and learn more about HTML, Web Graphics design and Web Design in general.

I suppose I'm a little ambitious and that's what gets me into trouble at times.  Any ideas are welcomed.  Prayers and encouragement are, well, encouraged.

Blessings,

Tracy

mostly I just read what everyone else has to say. there is just too much to read and learn to post many of my own thoughts.
Just out of curiousity, why are you chosing Virginia? I ask because we have not yet settled on a place to locate our homestead, and I am always curious as to why people choose the places they do.

We chose Virginia for a couple of reasons.
#1. My husband's family owns 40 acres on a beautiful mountain ridge that will someday be his (ours). The house is 30 mins off the main road of a small town. The town we'll live in is called Blackwater in Lee County.

#2. The life there is simpler. Not as fast paced at it is here. We live near Orlando, FL and it seems like we're on a hamster wheel...going as fast as we can but, never getting anywhere.

#3 The have all 4 seasons however, Winter doesn't seem to be as severe as in other places. Mind you, it gets cold and snows but I haven't heard of them being snowed in in years.

We visit there often and have come to love the area. It's in the far western tip of VA, between Eastern TN and SouthEastern KY.

I'll post some pictures so you can see how lovely it truly is.
