A Photo-Shoot Of Barnyard Friends

A Photo-Shoot Of Barnyard Friends

I wanted to share some pictures I took not too long ago, of the goats and chickens. Enjoy!

My Momma goat, Belladonna

The newest doe to the family - Lil’ Flopsy. Cute little thing, ain’t she?

The newest doe again - side-shot

Here she is again, but her Momma is with her. The Momma moved right as the picture was taken, but it’s a cute one of Lil’ Flopsy.

Here are some hens - yellow *buff orpington* - red *Rhode Island Reds*.

Here is a side-shot of Mr. Bennet. He is Jocelyn’s rooster.

Here is another one of him. He is the biggest rooster we have.

This one here is Paint. He is an Americauna. The Americaunas lay green and blue eggs. They are sometimes called the Easter Egg Chickens. He crows pretty good. Pretty isn’t he?

I snapped this just as Paint was crowing! It was pretty neat taking that picture. :)

In this one, he is running away from me. He looks to me like he is saying to the other chickens, “I’m the big rooster on the campus, or roost, if you’d like!” Or “how dare you call me fat! It’s just all my feathers; they make me look poofy. Hmph.”  It was very funny when I saw.

Here is one of Paint with some of his hens, called his harem.

Matthew 5:14 Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid.

I hope you have enjoyed reading the thoughts and happenings of a fourteen-year-old girl from the country. “You can do all things through CHRIST who strengthens you!” Philippians 4:13

Thanks for commenting on my blog! I will have to think about Country Rider. Your goats and chickens are really nice. ( especially Mr. Bennet and Paint!)

Love,
Katie

Hi Rachel, how are things at the Dixon homestead? Sorry I've been long in coming over to visit you here. I always miss your blog in the last 100 list because you blend in with the other sheep head avatars. (LOL. You might want to consider getting a new avatar over here! :-)

Your goats are really cute! We mostly had saanens but we had a couple nubians in the beginning and I always thought they were the cutest. Did your little sick guy recover?

Theresa's been having some crazy things going on with her rabbits. She's working on a blog post for me about them, so I don't have to try to figure out which mother had what and why!

Aside from spring, this is probably our most productive time of year (I say productive because we hate the B word: (busy) ;-). The girls and I have been harvesting and processing food every day yet, we still can't see our kitchen table. The boys are working on putting the garden beds to sleep for the winter and putting up extra firewood. Today we're getting our winter supply of round bales for the winter dropped off and have to get them fenced off and up on tires. It's getting to difficult for my (pregnant) Mom to bend over to trim the horse's hooves so I've taken over that fall job too. We have a big storm blowing in this weekend so we might be lighting our first fire in the stove. When things do finally settle down a bit, we have a bunch of sewing projects to do to keep the house and it's occupants ;-) warmer this winter. As well as making baby things to welcome this new little one into a very cold world around Christmas time! That's about all that's new here... You?

Nice touching base with you again!

A Little About Me

Hello and welcome to my blog... grab a cup of hot tea or coffee and snuggle down into your favourite sitting chair... to make yourself more comfortable. :) I live in the Land of the Indians on a small hobby farm. We have chickens, ducks, goats, dogs and bunnies, not to mention all the other critters that come around. We also have five cats - three inside and two out. I hope you enjoy my blog and visit me often. Let me know you visited by leaving me a comment. :) Many blessings to you in the name of Yahovah God and His Son, Yeshua the Messiah. ~Miss Rachel
