Scenes from a mountain drive
Since we live in this very small rural town there are not a lot of fancy places to go to celebrate festive occassions unless we drive about an hour and a half. Since we were already planning to do that on Saturday for school clothes shopping we didn't want to go Friday night. So instead, when Sam got home from work we fed the kids and hopped into Big Pink (the truck you see at the top of my page) and headed up our mountain for nothing more than a joy ride. No plans for log gathering or anything.......

Wasn't it a beautiful night? The first two pictures were taken on our way up. We explored one of the lesser traveled (translate....BUMPIER) roads and discovered the stand of tall thin trees in the 3rd picture. Then on our way down I took the last two pictures as the sun was setting. How much "fancier" of a setting did we need?!!!
And yes.......we just couldn't help ourselves........we did pick up a few logs along the way .

Now *that's* a view! Those mountains put a little chill down my spine.
I loved your anniversary story. So well written, and how sweet.
