I'm on here a LOT!

Hi all!  Thanks for all the advice about home schooling, I do know a few families that home school, so I don't feel totally alone :o)  (Hubby's Boss is one!) I have been scouring the websites looking at Curriculum for weeks now, I think I know what we will start with, but over the summer there is a big ole Fair in Columbus so I will go to that for sure and see what they have :o)  We decided to let them finish out the school year in their grades and start fresh next term... I would ideally LOVE to just yank them right out of there now, BUT there are some other factors to think about (for 1, hubby doesn;t want me to pull them out mid year) so yeah, that is where we are at now.

One loaf of my fresh bread is GONE! woohoo!  We had some stew for supper and we pulled it out, had some butter and there ya go, gone!  I love to see them all eating something that I made by hand... love it!

Tomorrow is not busy round here, I am getting some furniture from a friend of ours for Ashley's room, so tomorrow I am straightening my attic to make room for her old furniture, I plan to use it to store my quilting, crocheting and all other crafting supplies.  My attic is attached to my room, so it is nice extra work space.  Hubby bought me a little portable heater for in there and there ya go, ready made craft room :o)

OK, enough rambling from me, I hope to get my seed catalogs and gardening books tomorrow, we are due for some snow and it will be nice to sit and read those and not think of the white stuff!

God bless and Good Night!

I just found your sight and wanted to tell you your bread looks great. I made some whole wheat chocolate chip cookies tonight and my family loved them. It is fun to bake.
Alright onto the homeschooling stuff. I would first join HSLDA. I want to encourage you that you can take your kids out of school mid year. My first was in Kindergarten and we took her out mid year and she has never been back.
The first year I did a little of this and a little of that and I overwhelmed myself, there is alot to look at. I ended up using a curriculum called Sonlight.
I have loved it. They map it out for me and it is a complete curriculum. I just open it up and follow what day I am on I do what they say. Now I can tweak this to my schedule, I don't have to do what they say or I can change it up some, it is just a guide. It is a great help for a new homeschooler though. The complete Core is for history, bible, read alouds, poetry, geography and then a Language Arts program which is all grammar and reading, spelling, dictation. If you order the whole curriculum you can also get a Science and they are really done well. Often it has to much for us to finish in a year. You have to order your own math and we use Saxon, it has been wonderful and I know that my kids are learning what they need to with them. We also order a handwritting program through Sonlight. You can check out there website at www.sonlight.com. If you have any questions feel free to email me or private message. Happy planning.
Blessings,
Andrea
