My happenings for Saturday

Today was productive :o)  We went sledding with my babies and we had so much fun!!!  Then we came home, I finished laundry, and I decided to pull out (once again) my quiltting things.  I ran to our local Quilt shop, Stitch, Piece, and Purl, and got some new fabric... I have decided to make new placemats and napkins :o)  Something fun to do since its all snow outside!  So I worked on that for a while, then played some games with Dan and the kids, and now here I am, but almost bedtime, Church comes early tomorrow :o)  Plus tomorrow I get my NEW FRIDGE!

I ordered a few seed catalogs online and also two gardening books, I got them off Amazon.com for really cheap, I can't wait to get them!

I was wondering if any of you can direct me to any sites or books about candle making, soap making and also lotions and maybe body scrubs, all homemade :o)  If you have any help, THANKS!

Tomorrow is the big day... I am about to venture into making my first ever loaf of Whole Wheat Bread!  I will let you all know of the results!  LOL  Good Night and God Bless!

What recipe are you using? A friend of mine bought me lots of breadmaking ingredients from Urban Homemaker! They have some great bread recipes on their site too. I have a link to them on my blog. I will be making my first loaves Monday! Let me know how yours turn out. (yummy, i hope!) I just borrowed a great soapmaking book from our library. I am a very visual person, so I love books that have pictures to go with the instructions. This book is PERFECT! Once I order some lye, I will be on my way to soap making! The name of the book is The Complete Soapmaker by Norma Coney.
It has really hepled me viualize what I will be doing. Hope that helps! ~Shaundra

Hello! It is nice to 'meet' you here at HomesteadBlgger. :) My name is Robin and I am your neighbor just south of you, in Kentucky.

I first began making handmade soap 3½ years ago. A friend showed me how to make it in her home. Shortly after that I went to Books-A-Million (they have those same books at other major book stores or at Amazon.com, etc.) and bought soap-making books here and there. It is extremely rewarding. I am not one that enjoys doing crafts that result into dust collectors. It has to be practical or I won't do it. I have since made nearly 100 batches of soap! I do sell my soap, but don't worry, am not going to try to sell you mine because you want to make your very own. LOL ;) But! If you are serious about making soap and want 'live' help, I would be willing to help you. Just let me know and ask all the questoin you like!

I look forward to getting to know you ~ Robin
