Propane Heat

Posted on Thursday, January 17, 2008 at 02:27 in Around the House

Not only has the cost of gas gone up, but propane has gone up too.  We had our tank filled on December 6th at about $1.90 a gallon, cost us $306.00 to fill.  Had to have it filled again on January 14th and the cost was $2.25 a gallon.  It cost over $400.00 this time.  That means that our heating cost us $300.00 last month, not including the electricity that it took to run the central heater unit.  During the day, when my husband is at work and my son are in school, I've been turning the heater off, shutting all the doors in the house, and have plugged in my 2 small space heaters.  They're doing a pretty good job, and I imagine that the electric bill won't be anywhere near $300.00

I'm really excited for spring to arrive!

Country Blessings,
Jamie

We are going through the same thing. When we moved in 5 years ago LP was .82 cents! We used our gas furnace. No big deal. Then It went up. It is up to 1.96. 2 years ago we went to electric heat to save money. That lasted a year till our electric company decided to hike the rates. We are now using a wood cook stove, I hope the trees don't start billing us! Good Luck!

We heat with propane also. I was shocked with a $600 bill this fill. I can't believe how much it is going up. We are also trying the whole turning down the furnance and what not. Good luck. I hope you see a difference in the amount of propane you use.

We are in the same boat...our furnace, hot water heater, stove and dryer are all propane. A year ago (when we first moved in) propane here was at 1.67 it's now over 3.21 and we have spent 1000 on propane in the last few months. So we've turned down the heat and are using electric heaters (and extra layers of clothes lol) for now. I can't wait until we get solar and wind (hopefully in a year or so) and won't have to worry about the cost of heating or electric bills anymore :) It's nice to meet you and welcome!!
