Living the Simple Life

Stormy Friday Morning in the Midwest

Good Morning from a stormy Midwest, the clouds have roiled in and the thunder has begun in earnest. We have a tornado watch out for our area till this afternoon, hopefully we won’t get anything to severe.

The past couple of days have been very busy around here, I sell my eggs in town and have expanded to selling my homemade soaps, butter and egg noodles to go along with my eggs and cream and the orders are rolling in. A little extra money is a good thing but it also makes more work but, I have never been one to shy away from hard work; and I enjoy what I am doing; you can’t ask for much more than that!

The gardens are finally producing a bit here and there I got enough this morning for a salad with fresh spinach, lettuce, onions and radishes for tonight’s supper I know I am going to enjoy it as I am sure my husband, daughter and son in law will too.

Our son in law was raised in town, his parents never raised a garden and his parents are professional people; so he never really had to do chores and work the way most kids that live rural and the homesteading lifestyle do on a daily basis. So I have to say that since he started dating and married out daughter he has taken to the work around here and I believe he even enjoys it, he actually looks forward to baling hay! He has been a blessing to our family and is becoming and very hard working dependable young man, and we are all glad to have him as part of our family.

The lightening is picking up so I better disconnect the computer and batten down the hatches. If you are in the path of the storms moving through the Midwest today, get ready and stay safe!
