Living the Simple Life

Saturday Afternoon Catch up

Here we are at the end of another week, and it sure has been a long one. My daughter and son in law got everything moved back here form Boston MA on Monday. I tired to tell her not to think she was going to set up and entire household in a day but, you know how that one goes. She tried to do too much to fast, kind of like her mom and she had a bit of cramping and spotting; she gave us quite the scare. Everything is okay now but we had to sit on her for a few days to get her to rest and relax. So that is why I went missing this past week.  I got some of the unpacking done and she is now going at it slow and easy so at least for now we are all settling down into a routine.

When we were in to progress of building our house we had to have a place to live, as we sold our home in town rather quickly; so we bought an 8 year old mobile home 3 bedrooms and 2 baths to live in. When we got the house finished we planned to sell the mobile home but after thinking about it decided to put a regular foundation under it and leave it out here, thinking someday my dad might need to be closer to us so I could care for him. I am very glad we kept the home as it makes a good place for the kids to live while they are in school and the rent is cheap LOL

At least I can keep an eye on her while Tyler is working this summer.

The gardens are growing and the critters are growing too, I cant believe how big the calves and hogs are getting already they will be ready for butchering this fall that is for sure. I have had a very good year with the asparagus and canned and froze quite a bit of it, there is nothing like asparagus in the winter. With grocery prices sky rocketing every bit of food we can grow and provide for ourselves can only benefit us. I worry about those who do not see the disaster coming at us and have no clue as how to grow and preserve anything for themselves.

This being Memorial Weekend, please take a few moments to stop and think of all of the men and women who have given so much ,so that we may live in this country and enjoy the freedoms that we have.
