Living the Simple Life

Busy Wednesday!

It’s the end of another busy but productive day here at home. I got up early and got the milking and critter chores done and after separating the milk I started a large batch of bread, as we were nearly out in the freezer. That being done I moved on to cleaning carpets and finishing up on some spring cleaning around here. It never ceases to amaze me just how much dust can accumulate with only 2 people in a house this size; makes me wonder what is going to be like to have a grandchild running loose in here, I can’t wait!

The seeds are all poking their heads up through the soil and the garden is looking good, the herbs are looking great as well except for my rosemary no matter what I try I can never get my rosemary to winter over in the garden so it looks like I will be heading into town this weekend to find some more. I use a lot of rosemary around here and we prefer fresh when we have it. I also noticed that an heirloom plant that was given to me last year called loves lies bleeding hasn’t come back up yet either, I hope they spring up because they were gorgeous last year. Here is a picture of them from last year

My husband went down into the timber after work tonight to cut up a few trees and haul them up to the woodshed so he could get them cut up and split tomorrow evening, hopefully before the rain comes in. I was fixing supper so I stayed behind to keep and eye on the grill. Well lo and behold when he came back to the house, he had a shirt full of morel mushrooms he found while cutting and moving a few dead fall trees. They sure look good and I know they will taste good for supper tomorrow night! Have a great evening!!
