Another stormy wet day here at home. We had our hands full yesterday as we had to go down to the pond and clean out the over full it was clogged up, now that was a mess! We are to get several inches of rain over the next couple of days and the creek is already out so we went down to the neighbors last evening and helped him move his cattle to higher ground. As fast as the creek was rising; by morning his pasture will be fully under water. I am glad we are a lot higher up here and even though we cannot get out down the road the regular way we do not have to worry about our animals and the rising waters. One thing is for sure the wells will be full after all of this rain.
Since I can’t be outside doing much today I will spend most of the day in the sewing room. My daughter found a pattern and some adorable flannel out in Boston and sent it back here for me to make some nightgowns for the baby out of. She remembers when I took care of my nephew and 2 nieces and how convenient those “old fashioned nightgowns” were in the middle of the night. I have to laugh because I remember using them on her and now they are considered “old fashioned” times change so quickly!
For some reason or another this old Irish blessing keeps running through my head today so I will leave you with this;
May the road rise up to meet you, may wind be ever at your back. May the sunshine warm upon your face and the rain fall softly on your fields. And until we meet again, May god hold you in the hollow of his hand.
