Our Homestead

So here we are we live 9 miles from the nearest town and I am a stay at home wife and mom.  We have 1 dairy cow, 4 dairy goats, 3 bottle calves we are raising for beef for next winter along with  3 sows, 62 hens, 3 roosters, 2 dogs and I have no idea just how many barn cats!

We have a very large vegetable garden, a ¼ an acre of a plot in which we grow potatoes, a few plots that we are experimenting with this year and growing, wheat, barley and oats also. He have apple, peach, cherry trees along with walnuts, hickory nuts, grapes, elderberries, raspberries, strawberries, mulberries and wild black berries; as you can tell as this keeps me going most of the time.

I am also an Administrator at a preparedness board which can be visited at OurCountryHaven.com. OurCountryHaven  is a wonderful place for people new to being prepared and those that are old hats too.

I love to do all kids of crafts and my real passion is baking and cooking so look for lots of recipes because I am always whipping up something new in the kitchen.

Great posts so far - it sure is fun to hear how you have your homestead set up. You sure have lots of animals :o) Sounds like a fantastic garden too. I just went over to OurCountryHaven.com, looks like lots of information there - thanks!
