The Simple Woman’s Daybook for October 6, 2008
Thank you to Peggy at The Simple Woman for hosting this.
Outside My Window……. It is a cloudy start to the day but the weather report says it will be a warm one. The sun is just coming up over the horizon and I can see some faint streaks of pink, yellow and purple behind the clouds.
I am thinking……… about the holidays ahead and hoping that that all of our friends and loved ones will be able to join us here at home for Thanksgiving. Big Thanksgiving dinners are a lot of work but we enjoy getting everyone together and give thanks for the blessings we have received this year.
I am thankful for……. Lots of good cut, split and dried wood and corn which we will use to heat our home with this winter. With the cost of heating our home this year expected to skyrocket being able to provide for our own warmth is a good feeling.
From the kitchen……Yesterday was a bake-a-thon of sorts I baked, brownies, pumpkin bars, dog biscuits and a birthday cake for our dog Jack. This morning I have some whole wheat oatmeal bread rising which will be for supper this evening along with a roasted chicken, mashed potatoes with a bit of cheese and garlic, fresh spinach and a green salad.
I am wearing………. A pair of dark blue Capri pants and a white short sleeved button down the front blouse, no shoes or socks.
I am creating…… Fleece blankets for the nieces and nephews, I have 2 done and 2 left to go I hope to get them finished up this week.
I am going……. to make a pot of Vanilla Biscotti coffee and sit back in my rocking chair and enjoy a few moments of ME time this morning.
I am reading….. Love Finds a Home by Janette Oke
I am hoping….. For a short rag weed season
I am hearing……. Combines, semi trucks and a lot of commotion as they are getting ready to start picking the bean fields across the road from us for the day. My husband thinks one more day and they will be finished, I miss the peace and quiet!
Around the house……. I need to do some dusting, and vacuuming this morning other than that things are in good shape.
One of my favorite things is……. A hot soak in the tub with a nice cup of chamomile tea before bed.
A few plans for the rest of the week …… I have laundry soap to make this morning and after that I have a new recipe for kitchen soap with oatmeal and coffee in it, it is supposed to be good for removing kitchen odors I want to give that a try. I have some sewing to do to finish up my nieces and nephews Christmas gifts and then more sewing for my husband’s gifts. I don’t have any appointments this week and I am looking forward to some good old fashioned quiet time.
Here is a picture thought I am sharing……….
