Living the Simple Life

Happenings at our place

I have been caught up in a whirlwind of activity the past week or so and I think I finally have a couple of days with a just a bit of down time, thank goodness.

My husband’s trip to the east coast went well while he was there it was just the trip out and back that was a disaster. With all of the cut backs the airlines are making the so many fights are being overbooked and cancelled it is making making flying a nightmare. It took two days just to get back to Illinois from Pennsylvania, and when he finally got home he was exhausted and frustrated from the whole experience, I can’t say as I blame him.

Summer our daughter is still on bed rest, and will be until the bay comes. She has had a couple of episodes of contractions but is still holding on. She has a doctor’s appointment this morning and we are hoping for a good report. The OB told us if she could just remain quiet and hold off till the 15th of August it would best for the baby. I know she is tired and miserable but she knows it is all going to be worth the wait.

The harvest is going well and with today’s food prices we are extremely grateful. It seems that even with the strange weather conditions we have had so far this spring and summer the garden is thriving; even the harvest of hay for the animals this winter is going better than we expected. The pantry is filling up nicely!

Preparedness, when properly pursued, is a way of life, not a sudden, spectacular program. -- Spencer W. Kimball, 1976
