Sunday blessings to all, I hope this day finds all of you well and counting your many blessings of this past week.
It has been a busy week around here, today is calm and quiet and for that I am grateful. When the local water supply was temporarily cut off to those living in town we had several friends and family come out to get some drinking water and some used washer and bathrooms. We have plenty of water and I didn’t mind helping out but it is always nice to have the house clean and quiet once again. Thank goodness the flooding along the Mississippi didn’t keep the water supply to near by towns down for long. Most folks were not prepared for this and if it had been down for very long it might have proved to be a bigger mess than it was.
My husband and son in law went out yesterday and got the hay I had cut earlier in the week baled up and are staking them in the barn. It is good to see the barn filling up with hay; it’s like seeing my pantry shelves begin got fill up with the beginning of canning season. A full pantry is one of those things that gives me a great sense of security and pride knowing that we have and can provide for ourselves.
Our so in law has been a lot of help out here since he and our daughter moved home form the east coast. He was raised in town, and had not ever done any kind of farm work; but he really pitches in and told my husband he enjoys the work out here. My husband and I are both truly grateful for all of his hard work.
I am going to go spend the rest of the afternoon down by the pond with the family, maybe take dip in the cool water and then we are going to have a late supper. Have a wonderful day!
