It has been a busy couple of days but we have gotten through them. The town nearest to us where my family lives has been dealing with some water problems due to the flooding on the Mississippi. At first they were under a water restriction and a boil order and now they are just under a boil order till further notice. Several many of them did not have clue how to disinfect water or take care of their daily needs with out using tap water. So some of them have come out here to use the bathrooms and get some drinkable water. I had to chuckle just a bit as they were giving away bottled water in town, 1- 24 bottle case per household per day. It did not matter if you had 2 people or 10 just one case per day. That isn’t going to go very far as far as drinking and cooking goes, but what can I say?
We have also just completed our first cutting of hay, and so far it is looking good. With prices on everything skyrocketing we are hoping for good harvest of all our crops this year including those intended for feed for our livestock. The vegetable gardens are doing well also and we are looking forward to that first tomato of the season; isn’t it funny how that first tomato always tastes the best?
Preparedness, when properly pursued, is a way of life, not a sudden, spectacular program. -- Spencer W. Kimball, 1976
