Motherhood is the greatest calling any woman can have, and it pleases me that our country has set aside this one day of the year to honor the women who are called "Mother". Whether the child or children you care for, love, cherish, and nurture are the fruit of your own womb, or whether they were brought here through the womb of another dear lady, you are to be honored and commended for the wonderful calling upon your life.
So many single mothers are pulled here and there, trying to raise their children, take care of their home, and also support their family. Let us all join together in one accord in this special calling. If you know a mother who is having difficulties, lend a helping hand to her. Help her with childcare in a godly home, help her with the grocery or electric bill, fill up her car with gas, or help her with cleaning her home. Fix a few casseroles and freeze them, and then take them to her with written instructions for preparation in the oven. Fix a special dessert and drop it by her home. Call her and ask if you can drop in for an impromptu visit, and take the fixings for Tea Time with you. Take your children over and sit outside with her while the children all play together. Just a brief respite from the cares of daily living can mean so much to a single mother!
May you all be blessed for your faithfulness to God, to your families, and to each other on this day set aside to honor you. I pray our Lord heaps His blessings and abundance upon you this day!
Many women do noble things, but you surpass them all. Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting; but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised. Give her the reward she has earned, and let her works bring her praise at the city gate.
~Proverbs 31:20-31 New International Version
