It's the weekend :)


It's been a busy week...

**Doing the *getting started* paperwork filled out, notarized, faxed and mailed for the WAH company

**Library x2

**Grocery shop

**Bank

**Baby R was here all day Friday

**A friend, who works I T, came Friday evening to clean up this computer.  She and her husband and daughter brought the pizza's and I made the salad and a pineapple upsidedown cake.  She is looking into my options for some updating and increasing the RAM.  This computer is about 8 years old...a hand-me-down from my Dad.

So now, the weekend is here.  No childcare or cleaning jobs today or tomorrow.   Not good for the bank account, but a nice break for me to get some projects done around the house. 

**I will be baking bread, cookies, cinnamon rolls and possibly trying some English Muffins.

**Raking out the flower beds.  It was still too wet to do it yesterday.

**Possibly re-arrange the living room to the Fall/Winter arrangement.  I have a decorative fireplace that adds coziness for this time of year.  It goes in my bedroom in the Spring/Summer months...just to keep it out of the way.

**HouseChurch fellowship Sunday AM at Kim's.  A breakfast buffet is on the menu.

With all that being said, I guess I'd best get moving.

Plenty of firewood!


 

We have been blessed....  We had a good supply of wood going for this year.  Weren't really sure if it'd last all season but most of it anyway.  90% of it we got for free, just for clearing out the dead trees from a friend's lot.  That person is now going to be completely clearing an area for a garage on their property, so not only does DH get the clearing job, but he gets to keep all of that wood too!  Most of it will be green but that will lay in next year's supply!  So, assuming we're still here, I am looking at the next two winters of not having to spend a dime on propane for heat!!  The only other thing we use gas for is hot water, which barely makes a dent in the tank on its own.

 

God is so cool.

The cool night air


Tonight as I sat here working on the blanket that I am making for my nephew, I was again amazed by the weather that we've been having. It is pleasant during the day, it was up to 83, I believe inside the house, but when you went outside the breeze was cooling.

We opened all of the windows in the boys room, even though they have popped out the one screen. I will have to get some more of the stuff that holds the screen in place tomorrow.

The crickets are making their music again tonight as were the coyotes. Tonight they did seem to be a little bit closer, it also sounded as though it was coming from a different direction. But they have stopped or moved on for now, I might hear them again during the night.

I saw on another blog a great little shelter for goats, that I am probably going to make for our two girls. We have Boer goats that are probably more like pets than farm animals. But they are currently on leads and BBQ got herself tangled the other day, making her foot swell up. But she is much better now, however it really makes me want to move them into a fenced area where they can both run and play. So I am going to get more T posts and some fence, might also run hot fence to make sure they don't get out. I think that they would both enjoy being able to run around and bonk heads.

I might also try this shelter once we have a milk cow. Just depends on how tall she is.

I tried to take some pictures of the children outside tonight as the sun was setting, but my little digital just couldn't handle the distance shots, everything was coming up blurry or just terrible. I am going to look for a nice SLR digital, I've got a great 35mm. Which I might bless my sister with. She is really into photography and has a great eye. Not sure that she would want it though, as just like me she would probably rather have a digital. We are all spoiled with instant photos. Off to ebay to see what it out there.

Emily's goat story


One Friday I was at work, and one of the grandmothers of one of Emily's classmates came in.  She said there was a goat at their school that day.  So when I got home from work, I said, "Emily, I heard there was a goat at your school today."  Normally she would have just nodded, but she said, "Yeah.  It pooped.  There was a blueberry in its poop.  It ATE its own poop!"  I talked to one of the moms and she said that the poop LOOKED like little berries, but yes, it did eat the poop...  Whatever floats your boat i guess...

Cleaning the house


Today we've been cleaning the house. The boys are working in finding the floor in their bedroom, it is a sad affair. But once they are done we are going to sort the toys and only keep certain things. Then once the weather changes those toys will be packed up until next fall. They need to learn that they must take care of everything that they have.

Right now Thomas is vacuuming the kitchen because one of my large baking dishes broke into ten thousand tiny pieces. Sadly this is one of those 10x15 glass pans. I had found them at Wal-Mart for 5.00 a piece, I am glad that I do have two others.

I am also looking to up grade our oil lamps, Deanna has mentioned that there is a place over by her that sells Alladin lamps for around 60.00. I might have her pick me up a couple before we meet up again. She is also working on some dresses for me and Rachel with a pattern that she has and has yet to give me. Perhaps she will have them ready next week and we can meet up in Tupelo. There is a new Barnes and Noble over there and it is so nice to have a real book store now.

I think that the boys and I are going to fix the riding mower tomorrow, maybe check and see if Walmart still has that push mower on sale and tackle this place.

Off to get something for supper.

The weather here is beautiful


For the past month I've had the house open. Enjoying the cool breezes and the soft patter of rain over the past two days.

Tonight as I sit here listening to the crickets, toads, and off in the distance I hear the coyotes and their cries. It makes me so thankful to be able to live in the country.

We are on a paved road that during the day has a bit of traffic, they boys all like to get the logging trucks to honk at them, but after a time it all dies down and then we can hear nature. There is a rather loud cricket at the window now looking for a mate perhaps?

There is this spot up in the wooden part of our place that I am planning on building a small cabin. I think that I want it to be our one room school house. But then I find really nice cabins and think it is so much shadier back there ir would make a nice area for our home. Not that there is anything wrong with this house, but I prefer to have my home under the shade of many a tree.

But for now I am just going to keep dreaming and planning, then once I have it all figured out I will make it happen.

The boys and I are also working on a double project, well there is more than that but they have decided that they want to build the first set of triple bunks. I've already bought the plans for them, I just need to go to the lumber yard and find out what all the lumber is going to cost plus delivery, as I don't have a trailer or a trailer hitch for that matter. The other thing that they want to do is build an outside storage building, a chicken coop, a playhouse/fort, and I'd like a greenhouse. All in due time I am sure as I am not sure wher I want some of these located, I have to make sure that DH can get the truck and trailer in and out when he's home. Wouldn't want to build something only to find that it's in his way.

I am getting every Tervis tumblers for Christmas and that is it. Might also get them a new tire swing or playset. I'd like to get some bookshelves from IKEA, then I could just fill a whole wall and hopefully get everything out of boxes. I love books so I would still buy more, but since we homeschool and don't really have a decent library close by it would all be good. Perhaps when I build my cabin, I can make this house our library, with it's own little coffee shop.

Up to late and need to get a ton done tomorrow.

Funny Stuff My Kids Have Said


I am going to try to remember as many as possible, but my kids have said some really funny stuff over the years. 

One time we were in Altoona, and we got behind a car with one of those Penn State paw print magnets on the back.  Cameron was about 2 at the time, and he yelled, "Look!  A clue!"

One Sunday, Dave was getting ready to take the kids to Sunday School and he put Emily in his truck and buckled her in.  When he shut the door, the window on the side of his cap shattered.  Cameron looked down at all the glass and then looked and Dave and said, "That sucks."

Here is a conversation I overheard toward the end of last month:  Emily said, "Cameron, when is my birthday?"  Cameron said, "I think it's in Secember.  Hey, TODAY is Secember!"  She said, "Is TODAY my birthday or is it on the 26th like yours?"  He answered, "I'm not sure, but I think it's on a weekend."  By the way, her birthday is in December...

One night, Dave was trying to do something and I overheard him saying, "Damn!"  Cameron said, "D-A-M"

The other day, I packed Cameron's lunch and I gave him an apple, a pudding cup and a sandwich.  Dave asked him if he ate his lunch and he said, "I forgot to eat my sandwich and my apple."

 

Ok, apparently, I need to think about this some more.  I can't remember any more.  I'm sure more will come to me later, so I'll do another post...

giving up...


Have you ever had one of those days/ months/years, where you just want to throw in the towel and say I quit?  Well, I'm there.

First, I lost my job.  I know I'm not unique.  It was just on the news that over 500 state workers (who thought they had job security) are losing their job, and businesses are closing.  It sucks for everyone.  But it really sucks for me.  I have NO money coming in.  I can't count on child support, again, because Joe quit his job.  So I don't even have that little bit of security.  So how am I paying for gas to get the girls to school... funny you should ask.

I am now selling my plasma for gas money.  I pray I"ll be able to continue doing this, because it pays $60 a week for 2 visits.  That fills up my gas tank.  Unfortunately my body is not responding to well to it.  I had a severe reaction to the anti-coagulant.  I don't know if my reaction was so severe because I needed to eat and drink more, and I'm hoping to not have the same reaction tomorrow.  I still feel weak, and it's been 2 days.

I'm depressed.  I'm lonely.  I want to be loved.  but the state of virginia has decided that I have to be seperated for 6 months before I can file for divorce.  I've only KNOWN him for 6 months.  4.5 months to go before I can file.  Counting down...

I'm leading worship at my dad's church now.  I thought it would be easy sailing, but the piano player says she can't play it in the keys I've picked.  I've got some stubborn personalities to work with, and it's not gonna be easy...

I'm still interning at 9-1-1.  I absolutely love it there, and wish they could hire me right now.  But they don't have any openings.

Beth is getting back to her sweet self.  JL hurt her emotionally and physically and it's taken a while to get my little girl back.  I've been volunteering in her classroom this week, and I can see why she has a hard time.  She sits with 3 girls that are huge distractions.  So not fair...

IT IS 5:30 AM


And all is still quiet in the house. Dh left for work about a half hour ago and I was up before him so I took this time to check my emails and do some stuff on the computer that I have been wanting to get done for days.

Well, today I want to get all the cloths washed up that I have in the laundry and I would like to get my kitchen and living room cleaned up enough that I would not be upset if someone came over for a visit.  It is not a total disaster mind you but it could use a little help.  On the days that we have been home and not running to Drs with Father in Law, I have been doing daycare of filling out paperwork or talking to more nurses on the phone.  That reminds me I have to send out another email when I am done here. 

I have often wondered if we are going to get our stuff done that we always do before the first snow?  I have kinda forgotten about Christmas stuff along with some other stuff that is going to be put on the back burner for a while.
