Mentoring Moms

I was introduced today to a wonderful program in my community.  It's basically a program that aids young (16-21 years old) parents in any way possible.  They provide connections to local programs, counseling, and mentors, along with many other services.  Unfortunately, our county has an unusually high rate of teen pregnancy. 

So, I decided that I would sign up to be a mentor mom.  The decision was very easy.  What a wonderful way for a mother of young children to help others!  I can't volunteer in any other way, so this is a perfect fit!  I don't pretend to be a perfect mother, but that's not what these girls need.  Hopefully I'll be able to make a difference in someone's life, just by being a friend.  I've got lots of time!

Our church has been talking about living fully for Christ, "jumping out of the boat"  and I think this is one little step I can take. 

Lord, guide my words and actions.

What a wonderful idea!!!!! You don't have to be a perfect mother to be able to tell someone else of your experiences, frustrations, joys, and motherly tips!!!! I am sure it will be a wonderful experience for both you and the women you will meet.
