A Mother's Heart

Ryan the Destroyer!

Just a funny thing that happened in my day today:

Both my little ones were in the living room playing, while I washed some dishes in the kitchen.  When I glanced around the corner, Adam was happily watching his train round the tracks, and little Ryan was lying on the floor in the middle of a blanket with some toys.  I go back to my dishes.

A minute or two later, I hear Adam let out a series of da da da DA DA DA DA's!  (not an uncommon occurance, in my child who doesn't talk much yet, but still likes to make noise!)

Another minute later, I hear some louder bangs, and I go to investigate.  Little Ryan has somehow hitched himself over to the train set, and has both hands full of track!  Demolishing like a tyrant! Godzilla!  My sweet Adam is looking on, not at all pleased, but somehow suprised that this mostly harmless little brother has actually touched his things!!

I quickly rescued the track, and I am very proud that the scene didn't end with Adam reclaiming his track with brute force.  Also, I am reminded of two things:

1) Don't leave them alone for a second!

2) Adam has a rude awakening in store, when this little brother of his becomes fully mobile!

Ahhhh, the joys of siblings!!

I loved loved your post. I can actually see this happening in my mind. My son doesn't have siblings his age, so he is a "lonely only". My 23 year old daughter came to visit with her 4 month old beagle puppy. The puppy, Daisy, got into Seth's things and he was not happy. His desire for a little puppy has deminished considerably since Daisy's visit. Yes, big brother will be amazed at what little brother can get into.
Have a great weekend!

Loved your story. Those are memories to treasure. When my family was just started, an older friend who's family was grown, suggested I keep a little notebook in the kitchen drawer to write things down that my children did that I found funny at the time. I kind of laughted to myself because my first child was still an infant. Didn't take long for me to realize though what my friend was talking about. Kids do and say the funniest things. My husband and I look through that book now and laugh at some of the things our kids did and said that if we hadn't written them down we'd have forgotten.
Blessings to your family.
