Wishful Homesteader

It was a very hot and humid day here today.  It's hard to believe that last week I was wearing a sweatshirt!  Today is also Dave's birthday!  He is 33.  I made him a chocolate cake with peanut butter buttercream icing.  I used a mix for the cake, but the icing is homemade!  That is his favorite kind of cake!  I took him out for lunch, too.  We went to a new little restaurant here called the Gulf Stream Cafe.  They had really good food!  I'm glad we tried it.  The waitresses all loved Cameron and Emily.  When our waitress came to take our order, Cameron yelled, "Today is my daddy's birthday!"  Dave's face got a little red, but he laughed.  He was at his mom's house today.  She's cleaning out and getting rid of a lot of old stuff, and she wanted him to go over and see if there was anything he wanted.  He got the rest of his model cars (he loves cars), his old records, his stereo, and his TV.  He put his TV in our room.  We had one in there, but this one's bigger, and the kids watch videos in there sometimes.

I also did 2 loads of laundry and hung them out, and I watered my garden.  I added some plant food to the water, too.  All my plants seem to be doing really well.  One of the watermelon plants was looking a little dry around the edges of the leaves, but I think it'll be ok.

There won't be any coupons tomorrow, so I can leave for work a little later.  I have to work all day tomorrow, and I'll probably get home pretty late, so I won't get much done here.  I'll get paid for Monday, though, and I'm off then!

When we came home from lunch, Cameron fell and scraped his poor elbows all up.  I hate that.  I felt so bad for him.  He didn't really want me to clean it, but I did anyway.  And I kissed it for him.  Emily fell asleep not long after we got home.  We played outside for a little while, then she said she wanted to go in.  Dave took her in and put a video in for her.  I went to check on her a few minutes later, and she was sound asleep.  I was trying to read a book, but I kept dozing off myself.  So I took Cameron around with me and we watered the garden.  He has his own little tomato and pepper plants, and his own little watering can.  He was having a little trouble, and he kept watering everything but the plants.  While we were at lunch, he told the waitress that he wanted "ice cream with a straw AND a spoon" (a milkshake).  Apparently last Sunday or the Sunday before when they were out eating with Dave and my parents, my dad had gotten a milkshake and the kids were both helping him drink it.  So we ordered them a milkshake to share.  The girl was so nice.  She brought them out their own little milkshakes with whipped cream and a straw AND a spoon.  Emily was using her straw AS a spoon, and Cameron took a HUGE gulp, and all of a sudden I saw his hand go to his head.  Brain Freeze!  He really didn't want much more of it after that.

In the mail today I got, a sample of Head and Shoulders shampoo, Nexxus shampoo and conditioner samples, and a video game I had ordered for Dave on Amazon.com--$5 PLUS free shipping!  Not too bad!
