Wishful Homesteader

Well, I was a very busy little beaver today.  I woke up, made eggs, bacon and toast for everyone, and threw in a load of laundry. Then I got dressed, and Dave and I took the kids and went to the bank, then to get some water and some salt for the water softener.  Then we went to my work because Dave's air compressor has a hole in the tank, and he'd been trying for 2 days to figure out what was wrong with it.  They didn't have one that he liked, so we went to Sears.  We found exactly what he was looking for, so he got it.  Then, since we were in town, we went to Eckerd, where I found nothing.  Then we went to CVS, where I got about $15 worth of cosmetics for $3.  We also went to Wal-Mart, and we checked out their air compressor selection.  We got a much better deal at Sears.  While we wear at Wal-Mart, I got a big pack of frozen hamburger patties (which wasn't my idea), a pack of chicken, some shredded cheese, some pepperoni, a bottle of Propel water that I had a coupon for, making it 25 cents, a pack of Dannon yogurt that I had a free coupon for, and a 2-liter of 7-Up that I had a free coupon for.  I hadn't planned on getting all that stuff, but I always try to get a pack of chicken while we're there.  Then, when we came home, it had stopped raining, so I threw the laundry in the dryer and   worked for around 2 1/2 hours planting my herbs.  I had to weed the bed first.  I'm not talking little weeds here and there--It was completely grown over with dandelions and grass, and I dug it all out by hand before I planted my herbs.  The only thing I didn't get planted was my mint, because I wanted to plant it away from my other herbs, but it started raining again, and it got cold, so I'll have to do that the next chance I get.  I'll have to weed the other side of the herb bed.  When I cleaned my garden tools up with the hose, I took the 2 garbage bags full of weeds and grass and rocks around to the garage.  Then I came inside, did the dishes, made supper (pizza), gave the kids a bath, folded the laundry, made egg salad for Dave's lunch this week, and made some homemade blueberry muffins  I still have some muffins to wrap up, but I did pack Dave's lunch already.

I wasn't planning on making egg salad, but I had gotten 2 dozen eggs, and Dave's mom called and asked if I wanted any.  I didn't want to hurt her feelings, so I told her I'd take a dozen.  She came while I was out weeding, and said that she'd put them in the fridge.  When I got in the house and opened the fridge to get out my cheese for the pizza, there were 3 dozen more eggs, so I had 5 dozen!  I made a big batch of muffins to use some, plus the egg salad..

When we got home from in town, Cameron wanted to get the mail, so we went to the mailbox and there was nothing in it.  We NEVER get no mail, so I thought maybe she'd put it in the door or something.  I checked both doors, and nothing.  Cameron was all upset, and he said, "Is Cameron a bad boy?  The mail lady took the mail away."  I tried to explain to him that we must have not gotten any, but he was still sad.  Dave tried out his air compressor and 1 of the gauges didn't work, so he called and they told him they'd give him a new gauge.  So Cameron decided to go too, and when Dave got in the car, there was the mail in the front seat!!  We had taken the truck with us today, because we were looking for air compressors, so the mail lady left the mail in my car, because I had a big package.  It was the G.I. Joe's I had ordered for my nephew.

This morning, when we were eating breakfast, Dave was trying to get Cameron to taste his orange juice, and he kept saying no.  Then he put his arms out, and said, "I'm a scarecrow."  Dave said, "Do you know what scarecrows do?"  He was going to tell him that they drink all their orange juice, but Cameron said, "They poop!"  And we were laughing so hard, we couldn't say anything.
