I had a great day today, and an excellent shopping trip!! I am still excited. My mom came to get me this morning, and I was kind of bummed because it was raining, but the grocery store soon cleared that up! There was a deal on Unilever products, and there was a list of products--if you bought 5 of these products, you got a free bottle of All Small and Mighty laundry detergent. I was up late last night planning this out, so I picked the Lipton side dishes and Wishbone salad dressing as the most cost effective products to buy for this deal. AND I had enough coupons to do the deal 3 times. It only works once per transaction, but all of the cashiers there kow me, so no one minds if I have more than 1 order. I had coupons for all of the products I was buying for this deal, including the All Smalland Mighty. Since it comes off your receipt as a store coupon, you can also use a manufacturer's coupon on it. So when I got to the line I told the guy I had 3 different orders, and he said that would be ok. I decided to do the small orders first, just to see how it went. For the first order, I put up a bottle of All Small and Mighty, 4 packs of Lipton side dishes, and 1 bottle of wishbone dressing. After my coupons, the total was $1.30!! So I put the second order up, and I had the exact same products, but the coupons were a little different. My total on that one was 50 cents!!!!!!!! The third order was my big one, because it included all of my other groceries as well. I got 2 cartons of ice cream, 6 tubes of toothpaste (2 of them are kids' toothpaste), 4 bottles of shampoo, 4 bottles of conditioner, 2 packs of ice cream sandwiches, a pack of razors, some strawberries, 2 loaves of bread, 2 packs of blueberries, 4 Lipton side dishes, a bottle of All Small and Mighty, 2 boxes of macaroni and cheese, some bananas, 2 packs of sliced cheese, 3 gallons of milk, 2 dozen eggs, a carton of sour cream, and 2 bottles of salad dressing. My total for that order was $28.37! The toothpaste was all free, as well as the shampoo and conditioner. And to top it all off, atthe end of my order, a coupon printed out for $1 off my next order. I didn't get any meat, because there wasn't any that was discounted. But I have plenty of stuff in my freezers to cover it. I refuse to pay full price for things.
There was an order form on the kids' toothpaste for a free book with 2 UPCs. SO I got free toothpaste, now I'm going to get a free book too!
My friend Ashley gave me some mint plants yesterday at work, so if it ever stops raining, I'm going to plant them (along with all the other herbs I have sitting in my laundry room). I am excited about that.
I got a ton of good stuff in the mail, too! I got the MP3 player that I had won a few weeks ago. I was going to give it to Dave for Christmas, but I decided to give it to him for his birthday, which is in less than 2 weeks. I actually already gave it to him as an early birthday gift. He was really excited, although I had to figure most of it out for him. I also got a free sample of witch hazel, some Dannon yogurt coupons (because I wrote to the company and told them I loved their product), one of which is for a FREE pack of yogurt, a sample of Calgon body scent, 2 magazines, one of which had a coupon in it for a FREE 2-liter of 7Up, and a check for $28 from our old phone company. We switched, and I had already paid our bill, so they owed us!
For lunch, the kids had some of their macaroni and cheese, and Dave and I had grilled ham and cheese sandwiches, with pizza sauce on them. Hey, it used up all the leftover lunchmeat and pizza sauce AND it tasted good! For supper, I made chili dogs, and for dessert we had vanilla ice cream with chocolate syrup and strawberries. Yummy!
