I had a pretty relaxing day today. I actually took a pretty good nap a little while ago. For lunch we had hot dogs and onion rings. Yummy! I made that whole chicken for supper. I made roast sticky chicken. Today in the mail, I got 2 magazines, and 1 is full of recipes. I used my survey points to get my subscription. I also got a can of fruit cocktail to do a product test on, and a box of powdered drink mix to product test. I love free stuff!! I am tasting the lemonade right now, and there is another kind that I'm not allowed to open yet until I test the first one for 3 days. I think I will give the kids some of the fruit cocktail with their lunch tomorrow. Tonight for our snack, I made me a glass of the lemonade, Dave a cup of mint tea (he has a stuffy nose), the kids each got some chocolate milk, and I made popcorn!! Don't laugh, but that was the first time I made it on the stovetop. It was so easy, I don't know why I didn't do it before. I was buying the microwave popcorn, but in my attempts to save money, I bought a big bag of popcorn for 40 cents. We loved it!! I put on a little butter, salt and Parmesan cheese. For 40 cents, I got about 10 times or more the amount of popcorn that's in the microwave kind. I'm slowly getting the hang of this frugal stuff. And I'm having fun at it!! My mom told me today that I remind her a lot of her mom because she never wasted anything, and I'm kind of like that. I will find a way to use any leftovers we have, even if I have to put them in Dave's lunch, or take them in mine. I really don't remember my grandmother, but I wish I did. |

I really needed it. I went shopping this morning with my mom and the kids, and I hadn't gotten much sleep last night. I spent $41 and I think I did GREAT for all I got. I got 3 gallons of milk, a loaf of bread, a family-size pack of ground beef, a family-size pack of pork chops, a whole chicken, a bag of grapes, a bunch of bananas, some apples, 2 boxes of frozen fish, 2 bottles of orange juice, a pack of razors, a bottle of shampoo, a bottle of conditioner, 4 packs of "feminine products," a bottle of laundry detergent for the kids, 2 packs of rice.... I think that's about it. I feel like I'm missing something.
I made instant mashed potatoes, because I had some mashed potatoes left over from the other night, so I mixed the 2 together. We also had peas and crescent rolls. Oh, crescent rolls were another thing that I got today--2 cans of them. They were on sale for $1.41 a can, and I had $1 off coupons for each one. The shampoo, conditioner and razors I got free. The chicken and pork chops had $1 coupons on them, but I needed the ground beef, so I bought it with no coupons on it. I used coupons for the things I got, and I didn't get a bunch of stuff I didn't need (I tend to do that sometimes). The "feminine products" were $1 a bag!! I went way under budget, plus I still had some money leftover from last week!! I'm doing really good saving money. I may possibly buy a bag of potatoes at work on Wednesday.
