Yesterday my oldest ds (8) and I went out on a nature walk. These are some of the interesting things we saw while out:
A sinkhole? Not sure what it was - a place on the dirt road where water was bubbling up out of it. When we tried to step into it, it went a good 6" down (maybe farther - didn't want a soaking wet foot) The snow was really melting yesterday. Today nothing was bubbling out and the sandy dirt was covering but it was really mushy like you could sink way down into it.
Pieces of birch bark all curled up into little rolls. No birch trees were nearby. Not sure how the birch bark got there??
An old bird's nest from last year - very well held together still!
Many different colors in the river water. The river varied from black to, brown and even yellow! I think the color variations were due to the ice having melted or not melted.

A waterfall/dam spanning the river on our rental property. Along the bank there were cuttings from the invasive honeysuckles that have taken over here most likely done by a muskrat. It didn't seem like the cuttings were very recent as I didn't see any tracks in the snow. It was very interesting to see!
"Dam" or waterfall
"Cuttings" from muskrat?

Anyways, we had a great walk. I love searching for signs of life out in nature!
