Briar had her Christmas kitties yesterday 27th December. Seven seal Burmese kittens.
First one was born at 9.37am and last one 11.24am
Here is a picture of a very proud mum - she had had five kittens when this picture was taken

Please excuse her bedding. We use nappies for the birthing, two at a time on top of dry bed (that is what the white fluffy stuff is called) we keep the baby kittens nappy dry & continually change during the birthing.
We got three girls and we are all so thrilled as we wish to keep two girls from this litter for breeding queens.
Here is a photo of the first girl born at 9.48am I took the photo at two minutes old.

The mother cat - Briar really wants us with her. I had people coming to view the other litter of kittens plus the normal daily chores of cleaning stud room & kitten pen. All hands were on deck helping - Brent sat with Briar while I zoomed around cleaning & tidying up. Then he made breakfast while I sat with Briar & the birthing began.
Names - we usually name our kittens after a book the children are reading but this time we are having a Christmas theme especially since she was due Christmas day.
Holly & Mary are the queen names we have chosen so far (this may change as the kittens grow)
Carol for other girl
Rudolph, Comet, Prancer & Blitzen so far for the males.
Breeding cats is a wonderful hobby that all the family enjoys - tis litter is extra special as we are able to keep two queens to live with us!!! Often there is a favourite we want to keep & many tears are shed when the decision is made we can't. We enjoy hearing back from new owners on the pleasure they get from our kittens,.
