Happy Thursday!

Yesterday in the mail I received the nicest birthday gift from my in-laws. it is a silver charm bracelet, and the 5 charms on it are silver bars with each of our names engraved on it (mine, my husbands, and the kids) and each of our birthstones next to our names.  It is just beautiful and I love wearing it, along with my new wedding ring.  I thought it would be strange wearing a wedding ring I didn't get married with, but it, too, is beautful and matches my husband's ring.  You'd think they were a matched set!

I got my digital camera in the mail today.  My husband actually gave it to me on my birthday, but he told me that he'd seen the very same one at Best Buy (he bought it at walmart) for $40 cheaper, so the next day we went to Walmart to return the original camera, but when we got to Best Buy, it was bumped back up to original price, which was a dollar more than the Walmart camera!!! AAARGH!  I though we'd have to go back to Wally world to repurchase the camera, but hubby told me the manager at BB arranged for us to get the camera at sale price, but it would have to be shipped to us from the ware house, free of shipping.

I was disappointed to not be able to use my camera right away, but I guess it was worth the $40 savings.  I got to play with it today, and I must say...it is SO COOL!!!!  Hubby got me the fully loaded version of the Kodak Easyshare, so we can even shoot TV quality video with it.  Now I just need the printer dock!  I'll never buy another disposable camera again!

With the Borders gift card the Cooks gave me I bought a copy of The Rapture, the latest in the Left Behind series, and I was so excited to read it I finished it in less than 48 hours.

With my Kohl's gift card I bought a beautiful burgundy soft as butter chenille throw for the couch (it's getting chilly!!!).

With the bracelet, my inlaws sent me a $25 check with explicit instructions to spend it on myself and NOT to buy groceries!  So I went back to Kohl's and bought a hot pink bathrobe (so soft it's sinful) that turned out to be 1/2 off that day only!!!  Talk about lucky!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~(Time lapse of 15 minutes)~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I took a short break to go inot the kitchen to get my phone.  Chas is at Walmart to get a few things and I was going to have him pick up a Rescue Hero action figure for a young man's birthday party we're attending on Saturday.
So I go to the counter where I usually perch my phone, and...
Water.  Everywhere.  All is soaked.  Bills, papers, books (including a brand spanking new copy of Strong's Concordance I just got, school materials, and...MY PHONE.  Completely wet.  Thank goodness my new camera was in its leather case, or it would have gotten ruined.
Zachary, my 8 year old, is our dishwasher.  The boys used to take turns, but we began to catch Zach in the act of taking shortcuts and not doing a thorough job, so the dished is his responsibility until he learns to do it right.  He is forbidden from using the sprayer hose except at the end to rinse the suds from the sink, and for whatever reason (I suspect he was distracted by the TV and was "rinsing" while trying to peer around the corner at the TV at the same time) he soaked the counter and its contents.  I tell you, I saw red, and it was all I could do not to yell.  My husband and I are trying to eliminate this trait to our parenting, but ohhhhhhhhh man do they make it hard sometimes.
I also had to take a huge stack of photos and lay them all out flat in a single layer to dry.  GRR.
You know, you have to say to yourself, "They're just THINGS.  People matter over things, every time, especially when its your children.  But it's very hard not to freak out over the destruction of  THINGS like an expensive cell phone and the near destruction of a brand new digital camera.
Well, I came in here to finish mpost and to cool off.  Time to go back out there and have a talk with Zach about respecting other's things and responsibility and focus in your work.  I need to love on him and tell him I forgive him, too.
I do exactly the same thing with a new book! The Left Behind books are spellbinding! I really enjoyed The Rapture as well. The house could fall around me when I am reading and I wouldn't notice!
