Hello all! I have been playing on this silly computer ALL day! I got a completely different template & still have not figured out how to center the quilt rack in the header. Does anybody have ANY idea how to get that silly thing in the center of the page? I would be soooo grateful if you could tell me. It's driving me bonkers! Well, I need to go work on the school books some....Blessings, Patty

• Friday, August 11, 2006 - Let's Play with the Homeschool Books! :-)

Okay Deanna, just for you I'll share in my book find....LOL!! First off, we use Christian Light Education (CLE) curriculum because I still don't feel wise (brave?) enough to strike out on my own....I know, shameful, huh?

Kathy will be starting her Senior year & will be taking:

  • Bible
  • Lang. Arts
  • Keeping Financial Records
  • English Literature (2nd Semester)
  • PE

She only needs 3.5 credits to graduate....YEA!! The Bible is just the LightUnits (workbooks) but the Literature is a hard backed book & I'll save it for Shaun's 12th. grade year. The really fun experience is the Keeping Financial Records course....She has 2 big books, I have 2 big books, & that's not counting the self checks & tests! It took me over an hour last night just figuring out where everything was & how it fit together!  She works full-time so we count that as her PE. The English Literature we'll order at Christmas time as it's only a 1/2 credit & can be done in one semester.

Okay, now for Shaun who's a Freshman & will be pulling a full load this year. He'll be taking:

  • Bible
  • Practical Math
  • Literature (English - 2nd. Semester)
  • Science (Can I say YUCK?)
  • Social Studies
  • Computer Basics (Basic Car Care - 2nd. Semester)
  • PE

His books are pretty much all LightUnits except for the Literature & the Practical Math. (I don't know about the Basic Car Care yet.) We have the English & Computer Basics from when Kathy took them in the 9th. grade. We still have to order the Basic Car Care. (at Christmas time....) He'll be doing alot of different things for PE (from working out on a weight machine to skateboarding to bike riding to calesthenics (sp?) on bad weather days.) I'm going to try to add some things to make it a little more interesting but for the most part, we'll just be going by the books. I've changed the order to fit our schedule & deleted a few small minor things but in a nutshell, there it is! Hope I did not bore you all to death. Now it's someone else's turn....PLEASE share? Blessings, Patty

• Thursday, August 10, 2006 - Hello Everybody!!

I wanted to say thanks to all the ones who have posted a comment to me. It's nice to get such a warm welcome. I've been changing the fonts & backgrounds around on my template. I'm trying to get it to look more "homey", you know?

We got our homeschool books in today. So, it looks like I'll be burning the midnight oil for the next 2-3 weeks trying to get ready for Sept. 1st. We only ordered the first 1/2 of the school year. We'll get the rest of them during Christmas break. I am getting so anxious for school to start....I am SOOO ready for a routine again! LOL!!

Well, since it's getting late & storming, I guess I'll get off of here & post some more tomorrow....You all have a good night! Blessings, Patty

• Wednesday, August 9, 2006 - Hello all....it's "Moving In Day"! :-)

My name is Patty Lamb. I'd like to use this blog to write about my home....my garden....my natural area that we're going to have in the back yard. We live smack dab in the center of Charlotte, NC. I know, not much of a homestead but I'd like to think that I could incorporate a more plain & simple lifestyle even while living in the middle of all the chaos of city living. I'm just getting started so you all help me out with Homestead Blogger, okay? Leave me a comment or two...Blessings, Patty
