foods to eat and foods not to eat
this is from: www.pioneerthinking.com
I joined the community center for a month. Today I walked 3/4 mile with our dog, then mowed the back lawn, then went to community center for a deep water exercise class. I thought it was 1/2 hour but it was 1 hour. I feel much better than usual at this time of day. I may have RA in my thumbs - I read it shows up on both sides. Here are some old time remedies I found that I could try.
- Old Folk-Home Remedies To Relieve Arthritis And Rheumatism
Arthritis, one of the oldest disease known to mankind, is the inflammation of one or more joints. It occurs in all races at all times. Decline in joint function generally begins at age 30. No one really knows the exact cause of this painful and disabling disease. However, there are two theories: -
- 1. Infection
- 2. Body's own defenses go out of line and attack its own tissues
-
- Also experts believe that emotional stress plays a very important role in the cause of arthritis.
Since so many people in this country (over 150,000 a year) are afflicted with this excruciating, deforming disease, many HOME REMEDIES have been tested and used with some degree of effectiveness. Listed below are OLD-HOME-FOLK REMEDIES that have been tried by various people for treating arthritis in general and rheumatism.
- Mrs. G. had arthritis for years until she found relief taking alfalfa tea twice a day.
- Mrs. O. got relief by taking therapeutic doses of vitamins.
- Mrs. B. found relief by taking a tablespoon of fruit pectin in a small glass of cranberry juice every morning.
- Another lady found relief by gently exercising the afflicted joints in tub full of hot water.
- After learning self-control and how to avoid emotional upsets, Mrs. L. found that her pain had greatly lessened.
- Mrs. J.G. was greatly relieved when she eliminated sugar, white flour, macaroni, pie, cake, and sweet drinks from her diet.
- Mrs. G. W. recommends dissolving 4 teaspoons of blackstrap molasses in one quart of cranberry juice and drinking one glass everyday.
- Another says rub the aching joints with hot vinegar before going to bed.
- Two teaspoons apple cider vinegar and 2 teaspoons of honey dissolved in a small glass of warm water taken once or twice a day brings relief.

Thank You Jesus For Everything!
"Follow the light of the spirit in all things and depend upon God in all things, choose the living Christ as the pattern in all things and depend upon God in all things Do not seek the truth; seek the spirit of truth The spirit leads into all truth. To know the truth is to know the way.To be guided by the spirit into all truth is to walk in the light of the spirit all the way and the way of light leads into the kingdom of eternal life. Follow the words of the Christ until the spirit is found; then follow the spirit into the greater life of the Christ. Keep the eye single upon that light that is revealed through the spiritual vision of the soul. Where that light is shining there is the gate; beyond is the way that leads unto life, and all who are in the spirit shall find it even now" -- Christian D. Larson, THE PATHWAY OF ROSES
Just wanted to share! Have a blessed week everyone!!

• Friday, July 18, 2008 - stovetop zucchini and chicken casserole
Posted By Jill
I hate to heat up the kitchen with the oven, so this may be good for supper tonight. I bought some zucchini at a farmer's market and also a huge tomato (which was $2.25). Prices are high even at farmers markets - but it all tastes so good!
Zucchini & Chicken Stove-top Meal
6 zucchini - slice thick
3 chopped potatoes
4 sliced celery stalks
6 green onions
several chicken breast tenders, chopped
1/2 tsp. basil
1/4 tsp. oregano
1 tsp. soy sauce
1 c. tomato sauce
Saute onions and celery in 1/4 c. water for 5 minutes. Add rest of ingredients. Stir gently to mix. Cover and cook over medium-low until tender, about 35 minutes.

Today was a nice day, hot and humid but nice. My sister and her kids came over to see my parents and visit for awhile. We went out to lunch and browsed the antique shops awhile. The kids all had lots of fun playing together and we adults and older kids had fun visiting. I am really enjoying my parents visit, I wish they would stay forever.
I finally ordered some of the school books I needed. I love to order books and plan my year but it is so hard to stay motivated and actually do school. I am very excited to start doing 6 weeks on and one week off, I hope I can stay this excited when I start. I still need to figure out what to do for Nick for 9th grade, I can't seem to decide. When did I get old enough to have a high schooler anyways.... . I will try to make a decision soon.
I guess that is all for now. I will write more later. |

• Friday, July 11, 2008 - I'm Still Here
Posted By Carrie
I have been busy lately but thought I would check in and say hello. My parents are here visiting and are half way through their month long visit. They started at my sister's house for the first two weeks and will come here tomorrow for their last two weeks. We have thoroughly enjoyed their visit so far and wish they would move here.
We have also been busy with baseball, Nick is on the tournament team and has been playing alot. Tomorrow is our final day but it will be a very long one with up to five games and at least two. We are supposed to reach 100 degrees here and so the day will be hot and long. The good part is that it is my little town so we can go home if needed between games or I can leave the girls home if the day gets too long.
Today the kids lost their baseball in one of our overgrown fields and while searching discovered watermelons. I am so excited since the bunnies and goats finished my garden off. I 'll let you know if we ever get to harvest them.
We have taken another break from school while my parents are here and will start up again on August 4th. My sister, a friend, and I are going to do our own little homeschool group. We are going to plan field trips and share ideas about school. I am excited, when you homeschool it is important to keep it fresh for everyone, especially the mom .
Well, I am exhausted so am going to say goodbye for now. I will write more soon. |

• Friday, July 11, 2008 - the flea plague
Posted By Jill
| A nasty flea jumped on me here in the house, so I searched a non-toxic way to get rid of them. Take an aluminum pie plate & put some water in it, then some dish detergent. Put it under a night light; they will jump to the light & drown in the water. I tried it 2 nights ago with a night light & some fleas were in it in the morning. Last night I put it under the computer light which is always on anyway & the same result. Hope this tip can help somebody. |

Thank You Jesus For Everything!
By selflessness you fulfill yourself. By generously giving you gather riches.
Resentment costs you much and gives you nothing. Forgiveness costs you nothing and sets you free.
Fighting against something gives it added strength and influence. Whatever you accept, you're able to control.
When there's no one telling you what to do is when you truly learn. When your thoughts are still, you gain great insight.
By being flexible you can remain firm. By knowing your limitations you're able to transcend them.
Though some of life is bad, all of life is good. Be at peace in this moment, and you will always be.
-- Ralph Marston
Father give us ALL that peace which comes from you that is beyond our understanding. Take all the fears and doubts away for they don't accomplish any thing good. I bless and Thank You for hearing this prayer as all created in your image come to know you in a unique way. In Jesus' Holy Name!!
I am on the road to health, healing and right standing with my Heavenly Father, rilda
