Our Last Day of School!
Posted on Friday, May 15, 2009 at 08:11
Aaah, Summer the time of swimming, walking on the cool grass with your barefeet, shorts (long shorts for me), t-shirts,flipflops, playing volleyball and badmitton outside, gardening, eating tomatoes and other garden veggies, having wet hair and not having to dry it ;), taking pictures of God's beautiful creation, sunny days as well as rainy ones, warm weather, typing about my summer days on this blog, writing stories and letters to friends in the air-conditioned house or at the table on the deck outside, and most of all being with my family either on a vacation, gardening outside with them, picking vegetables , or inside trying to cool off with them. :)
Yay for Summer Break! :)
Today was my last day of school, being a 9th grader! I have had a great 9th grade school-year and I feel as if I have learned a lot! My sister Laura and I are still going to do Bible, Math, and reading a book of our choice, in the Summer, but we get 3 weeks off before that. (I want to try to read my Bible in the Summer, though.)
I am so happy about Summer break, and I can't wait to do all of the things that I mentioned above. :D
When do you all get off for Summer Break?

The SNOW!!!
Posted on Friday, March 7, 2008 at 03:38
Hi Everyone it's Mary. It started snowing this morning and they are now predicting 11-15 inches!!! Wow! I have been taking pictures about every hour or so, so I could post them here! :) Here they are! :)

Starting about around 9 or 10 o'clock this morning.

Getting about an inch more around 11.

About noon-1 pm.

This is the most recent picture.

It is about 3 inches right now, but we are supposed to have about 5 inches. Most of it will come tonight. It is supposed to stop around tomorrow afternoon.

The birds look really pretty in the snow, especially the Cardinals! :)

And, I just had to post this one! I took it on Wednesday. I held the camera up high and she looked up, so it looks like she is upside down! I thought it was so cute! :) By the way, Macy's Adoption Birthday, when we got her is tomorrow! :) Happy 1st year with us Macy!!! :)
I am really excitied about the snow! We haven't had that much in a while! :) It is hard though, because I like the snow and I also want to have our family over for Laura's and my birthday. :( God has a Plan though. I just have to keep on reminding myself that. :)
I hope everyone has a Great Weekend, and I hope you enjoyed the pictures too! :)
~~ Mary ~~
UPDATE: There is now 5-6 inches of snow outside! I measured with my ruler on our deck, but it is deeper in the grass! :) I thought I would update. :) Also there is supposed to be at least 6-8 inches of snow tomorrow morning(On top of the 5-6 inches)! I am really excitied. :) Well, I should go Bye!

Our First Day of School!
Posted on Monday, August 6, 2007 at 02:50
Hi Everyone! Our First Day of School was today! I had a great day! Yesterday I really didn't want to do school today, but it really didn't take that long! We got up at 7:00 this morning, and started school at 8:30 or so. We got done at 2:00! I liked getting back to school. Our summer break was getting a little boring, I didn't know what to do! Ma changed our schedule a little bit differently this year. Here is my scheldule:
~ Bible Reading and fill out Bible Journal
~ Math- Abeka Pre-Algebra
~ Health Abeka- Let's Be Healthy
~ Science Abeka 7th Grade
~ Spelling ( We are doing this next week)
~ Grammar/Literature (Next week Also)
~ Reading my book (Redwall)
~ Mavis Beacon Teaches Typing Lessons ( 30 Minutes)
So there is my Schedule! I know it looks like a lot, but it really isn't. I do get pretty tired after school though! :) We are using all Abeka books. All is 8th grade except my Science book which I didn't finish from last year. Also my Ma started a new thing this year, the bible journal. It is just like a journal, but we fill it out after we read our bible. We write the date, weather, How I am feeling, a blessing God has given me, a blessing I would like to ask God for, Favorite verse of the Day, and then we write a little journal entry. I really liked the idea of our Bible Journal! I think we will have a great school year! When are all of you starting school?
It is So Hot! Ot is supposed to be all in the 90s this week. Except on Thursday it is going to be 99 and feel like 105! I might stay in that day! :)
Well, I hope everyone has a Great day and week! Stay Cool!

My Bear I Have Finished Sewing...
Posted on Friday, April 13, 2007 at 05:25
Hello everyone! School today was Great! I finished my book Prince Caspian a while ago, so now I am reading "The Voyage of the Dawn Treader". I have read the first 4 Narnia books so far! I can't believe I only have 3 more left! Also today we had math which was hard. I am learning about square roots. Ma is teaching me how to do them, and she is doing a great job! Oh, also today I did science and it talked about Ultraviolet rays and about how Global Warming is just an exaggeration. Well, my science book had a really cute poem in it and I have to share it with you! Here it goes:
Roses are red,
Violets are Blue;
They both grow better
with more CO2.
Isn't that cute!? I did many other subjects too, but my favorite is sewing! I have been working on a stuffed bear! Laura did one too! The material we used was a T-shirt! Here is my finished bear:

As you can see, I stitched out a shirt , vest, and pants!

He looks like one Happy Bear!
Well, I think I better go! Bye!!!

The Pets of Little House...
Posted on Wednesday, March 21, 2007 at 02:35
Hi Everyone, Mary here. It seems like forever since I have typed another post! Like my Ma said our Birthdays were just last week! It was fun, and I can't believe I am 12 no longer! For our Birthdays Laura and I each got to pick a restaurant, and we went shopping for our presents. It was fun, and I am Thankful God gave me wonderful parents that love me and do many things for me!
Also we got a Kitten for our Birthday too! As you already know her name is Macy, and she is so cute! I have some pictures to show you in a few minutes, but I wanted to tell you about two other pets you don't know about. Their names are Fizzy and Sammy (Really Samantha) and they are 2 guinea pigs! We have had them for I would think about 2 years. They are really cute too! So including the 2 birds, Kitten, and two guinea pigs we have the total of 5 pets. Here are some pictures of Macy and then Fizzy and Sammy.

This is Macy, she loves her stomach rubbed!

Here is Macy making a toy out of a box! She is so funny!

Finally, this is Fizzy! He is also very funny! He loves to bite on his cage bars to let us know he wants a carrot!

This is Sammy. She is really sweet, and also likes to bite on the cage bars just like Fizzy!
I hope you liked my pictures of our pets! Now you know a little more about us...we love animals! Well, I hope everyone has a Wonderful day!

Our Weekend and Our New Pet!
Posted on Sunday, March 4, 2007 at 05:40
Hi everyone! I have had a Great weekend! Yesterday we ran all day! Laura, Pa,and I all got new shoes, and we did some grocery shopping. I had a good day yesterday! Today we went to church, which was Great! My Jr. High youth group lesson was what Jesus sent us when he died. They were...
1. The Message (John 3:16)
2. Holy spirit
3. Ethical Moral
4. His example
It was really interesting! Then after church we got a new parakeet for our other parakeet Shamrock. We wanted him to have a friend because we are planning on getting a new kitten soon. We don't know if the bird is a boy or girl yet, but we gave it a girl name. Her name is Daisy, and she is really sweet. Shamrock went crazy when we put her in the cage with him though. They have already become ok friends. I took some pictures of them together and some close-ups of each of them. Here they are.....

This is Daisy our new Parakeet.

Here is another picture of Daisy.
This is Shamrock.

And here they are together, they are really cute!
We are happy that we have a new pet! Earlier today we looked at our little plants that are growing. Only 2 of our onion seeds grew that I planted! Most of our plants are doing good! I can't wait to plant them in the garden this Spring/Summer! Well, I hope everyone has a Great week! Bye!

Happy Presidents Day!
Posted on Monday, February 19, 2007 at 04:08
Hi everyone! Happy Presidents Day! We had a great day of school, and I had a great weekend! Since today is Presidents Day, Ma had something planned for us instead of math. Laura and I had to get on the computer, and find what president/famous American was on what dollar. We also had to write down one fact each about that person. I thought it was fun! I learned a lot about the Presidents/famous Americans. I am going to share some of those facts in a few minutes. Also today we started a new book together called, "The Wind in the Willows." I like it, so far! Also Yesterday I had fun playing in the snow with Pa and Laura, and our hike! I thought it was really neat, because we really have not been down there in our woods. The last time we went down there was when it was muddy, and was really slippery! Overall, I had fun! Now for those facts, I am going to share a few that I thought were interesting. Here they are....
George Washington on the $1.00 dollar bill- At his inauguartion Washington had only 1 tooth. At various times he wore dentures made of human, animal, ivory, or lead teeth--- Never wood.
Abraham Lincoln on the $5.00 dollar bill- By the time he was 19, he was 6 feet, and 4 inches tall.
Stephen Grover Cleveland on the 1,000 dollar bill- Grover Cleveland went sailing during 1893 for what people thought was a fishing trip, but he was really having surgery for a strange growth in his mouth. The operation was so secret that nobody found out until 1917!
James Madison on the $5,000 dollar bill- Madison was our smallest president, weighing 100 pounds, and standing 5 feet and 4 inches tall!
I hope you like some of the facts I found! I got these from several websites, so they are not mine. Also I hope you learned a lot! Have a Great President's Day!

This is the first one, isn't it BIG!!!!!

Here is the second one. It wasn't as big as the first, but it was neat!!!

Here is the first icicle next to a ruler. (Sorry about the towel, it was really wet.)

Here are the icicles together.
Also I wanted to show you this picture of a Cardinal, when I posted my cardinal pictures. I couldn't find this picture on the computer before, so here it is....
I hope you liked my pictures!
Last night Pa and Laura looked through all of our garden seeds. Some of them were really old, so Laura decided to feed them to the birds! They seem to really enjoy it! Here is a picture of the seed mix...

I Finally took a Picture of a Cardinal!
Posted on Thursday, February 15, 2007 at 04:51
Hi everyone! We did school today, which was great! We were all ready to do school, and get it done so we could have our day! I am really enjoying my science book, since I am done with my health book. I really like it because it is starting out talking about soil, and before that compost, which my Pa does. It will also talk about gardening, which is exciting! As you can see, I am really getting into gardening! Just a couple days ago I helped plant Lettuce and onions, which I liked doing. By the way, Pa loved our Valentine's Cake we made for him! He thought we did a good job! Also do you remember when Pa said in his entry about the baby birds, that I can't really take a good close up picture of a cardinal? Well, today I finally did!!!!! I am going to show them to you so here they are!

I think cardinal are good posers. Even though they fly away right after you take the picture.

Here is a little closer up to the Cardinal.
Well, I hope you enjoyed my very-hard-to-take pictures. I love the red color of the cardinals! God makes even the simple little creatures beautiful! Don't you think? I hope everyone has a great day! Bye!

Homeschool and About Myself!
Posted on Friday, February 9, 2007 at 02:27
Hi everyone! My name is Mary I am 13, and I will be writing in this blog too! We had a half day of school today, and I did math, grammar, reading my book "The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe", and I worked on my embroidery. We didn't do our spelling test because we did it yesterday. Laura and I have been studying with each other the day before and taking it then.
We both got 100%!
As you know from our first post we have been getting a lot of snow. My Ma said that we are supposed to get more snow on top of that on Monday and Tuesday! I like having a lot of snow, but it is really cold and we can't go outside. Although we still do a lot of gardening inside! To tell you about myself I really like getting on the computer and doing HTML. I have also recently discovered I like to do embroidery. I have been doing potholder ones and just practicing my Stitches, and I really enjoy it! This is also my first year being homeschooled. I have been to public school all of my life, but this year I just couldn't handle all the wordly things happening in that school. Also I wasn't learning anything! God encouraged my Ma to homeschool me, and I love it! I am really learning A LOT! I can't wait for the continuing years of homeschooling! I am so glad today is Friday, aren't you? I hope everyone has a great weekend, and I can't wait to post more at Homestead blogger! Bye!
