A little bit about "our" Family

We have been here at Homesteadblogger for a while and I have been seeing many new faces. I thought I would write a little bit about me and our family to catch everyone up...

We go to a Bible based church. We believe we are saved by the blood of Christ. Our relationship with Christ is the most important thing to us.

We are a homeschooling family.

We have two daughters they will be 14 and 11 in a few monthes.

We live on almost acre.

We have pretty good size garden and would like to extend it a little more this year. We also have apple trees and strawberries. (Yum) We also had blueberries but we are not sure if they made it through the drought.

My husband will be writing more about our garden soon! He loves to write and put on pictures so stay tune......

We are hoping to build a cold frame and a worm bin in the next month or so:)

A little bit about me:

I am 38 years old

I enjoy doing crafts of all kinds:) I mostly like crocheting and cross-stitching.

I like to decorate my home in earth tones. I like bringing the out-doors in-side.

I am the oldest in my family.

I don't like to drive although I have been praying about this and I believe God is helping me with this trial.

Well that is a bit about me and my family.

I am looking forward getting to know some of the new people along with the ones that have been here longer than us:)

Blessings,

Ma

I am new to this blogging. I am a mother of two boys ages 10 and 13. I am going to be 37 in May. I am also a born again christian. I love learning how to do things the old ways. I love crocheting, knitting, quilting, most anything I set my mind to. I learned how to run a chain saw and that was really fun! We live on ten acres and have a good size garden. I can and freeze alot of our vegetables every year. We raise our own meat and have several chickens. My husband and I have been married 18 years and I love him dearly. I work outside of the home, but am fortunate to work around my kids school hours. Although, it has been difficult at times. I have recently found this blogging website and enjoy reading everyones comments in my spare time. I don't have much of that! It is good to read about others that enjoy so much of the same things I do.

Thanks for sharing some more with us - it's nice to get to know you better! :~}

And, what is the worm bin for? I've seen several people say that have one - is it for refuse, or for gardening, or both? Just curious - I'm sure my kids would love to have one, regardless of the reason!

Hey, it's Linda over at dorninkrefuge. I enjoy your comments over at my blog and thought that I might introduce myself a bit more formally. I didn't see an e-mail address so I will tell you a bit about myself. I am a born-again lover of the King of kings and my family and I go to a non-denominational Bible believing church. I love to crochet. It is my favorite pasttime other than spiritual things. I like to cook and sew and read. I LOVE books! Me and my husband homeschool our children and are stay at home family kind of people. You mentioned my chicken noodle soup recipe. Here it is: I boil a whole chicken(one that we butchered) with sliced carrots, celery, and chopped onions and garlic. After the meat is ready to fall off the bones, I pull the chicken out of the broth and one of the girls or I get all the meat off the carcass and I then add the meat back into the pot with the broth and veggies. I usually add more water to the pot and sometimes add in some chicken boullion to it to give it more flavor. I bring it to a boil and then add in some bought egg noodles. I use Reames frozen egg noodles. I still haven't tried to really make my own although I would sometime if I had a good recipe! I lower the heat to a simmer and cook it till the noodles are tender. One time I added dumplings instead of noodles. It is sooo good! When you cook a chicken with the bones and all, I hear that the marrow comes out into the broth and has FABULOUS antibodies that can really help heal. I guess that is why chicken soup has such a good reputation!
I will try to post pictures of the squares that I am making later on today. I am using bright colors as spring is what I am thinking more about lately. We have had such cold temps here. This morning our thermometer read - 20 degrees below zero! We have had snow since November 30th. I am ready for spring way too early this year! If you want to e-mail me, go to my profile on my blog and maybe we can stay in touch more if you want to leave your e-mail address on there. Have a blessed day!! Linda
By the way, I am 37 years old and have 7 children with more wanted!
