Getting up early and worm bins

I just have a minute before dinner will be ready. We are having a small roast with potatoes, carrots and bisquits. We have to eat early tonight because we have our small group and my daughter has youth group. Usually Wednesday is pretty hard on me trying to get everything done, but we have been getting up a 6:30 and this has helped me sooooo much! I love being able to get everything done with less stress!!
I usually start feeling worn down by 3:00 but now I have everything done and actually have some down time:) I bought a really cute cross-stitch kit. I am hoping to start on it soon. I used to stitch all the time but lately I have been to busy. I have been wanting also spend more time reading my Bible. "Food for my soul" If I don't keep reading I will starve!
I am also reading on how to make a worm bin. I hope we can make one soon. I will put on pictures:) It will a help a lot with our food scrapes. We usually have to take them up on the hill to our compost bin. We are hoping to keep our worm bin in the garage:) ( that will be closer) The book I am reading is called "Worms eat my garbage" by: Mary Appelhot.
Has anyone here ever had a worm bin?
Blessings to all,
Ma

I haven't had one but have wanted to for a long time. I got a book for Christmas (for some reason the title eludes me) that has several plans for bins.
My daughter and I are hoping to make one next week. I will let you know how it goes.

Hi there, I've been busy with red wigglers for a couple of months only and find it very interesting. I've learned that one should be very patient in the beginning, everyone would like to start up a bin and see them devour all your kitchen scrap in a day...this is not what happens. Once you've put them in their new "home", you don't have to feed them for a week to allow them to settle down and eat on the bedding and stuff they traveled in. Then you must start feeding them small hands full of chopped veggies/stale bread/meal/crushed egg shells etc. wrapped in a single sheet of wet newspaper. They will come up and eat through the bottom of this "parcel" and munch on the food inside without being bothered. Once you see little eggs or baby worms you know that you've maintained a wet but not soggy environment in which they feel at home. Do you have friends in South Africa ? I would like to make more "worm" friends.
