Honeysuckle A Herb?

It has been to rainy to tilled the garden or even plant my herbs. I have been reading many more herb books and hope to share all I learn with you. I have been finding I like many of the common herbs although there are many different herbs that I have never heard of before. I never knew that herbs had so many uses.

Honeysuckle is a herb I thought it was just a pretty wild plant.

Honeysuckle- can be found growing wild in North America and all over Northern Europe.

Honeysuckle receives its common name from the old habit of sucking the sweet tasting nectar from the flowers.

There are many different varieties such as Japenese Honeysuckle, Estruscan Honeysuckle

Honeysuckle is very tolerant an can be used in any traditional herb garden.

Sow seeds in Autumn thinly on surface of a prepared seed tray. Cover with glass and winter outside. Keep soil moist. Germination will take about 2 Seasons. *A more reliable way is to use a cutting.

Cuttings: Take from a non-flower semi-ripe shoot in summer put root into potting soil, or take a cutting in the fall and plant in a cold frame or greenhouse.

If you grow honeysuckle in a too sunny of a location it could get infested with aphids.
