Are you a Dreamer or a Do-er?

Do you have dreams? I do ....I had a dream of one day having a husband and then someday children and a nice home. I have been blessed ... God has given me all three. I still have dreams....I will turn 40 next month and I guess when you start looking at getting older...you  start looking at what God has given you and what things you would still like to do.

Yesterday we went out to get a gift for a friend..we decided to go to this lady's business that we saw at a craft fair. It was a cozy little place full of home-made items. Well I was very excited about going there and seeing all that she has made and what others have made that she also sells:) I saw knitted purses, dish towels, soap, candles, jewelry it was all hand-made and beautiful!

I would love to open up a little shop like that someday! I started thinking about my knitting and all things I enjoy to do...I know that someday if God would bless it I could be like that  lady? but...

I started thinking am I a dreamer or a do-er?  I have made a few knitted items for Christmas but truth be told I have been reading more about how to make the items...and  reading many web-sites of others that are making items that I someday hope to create. I know that I am a doer....but I am acting like a dreamer?

When we built our chicken coop we had a dream....and  we did it. We had no  plans and there are many mistakes but we didn't worry about the mistakes we just wanted a chicken coop! I have a saying "it doesn't have to be square" :) I have knitted many things and have ripped them up because they didn't seem perfect enough?  I know practice makes perfect and I have only been knitting for a very short time....I know that I could make many things like  the lady at the shop made:) I am getting very excited about not being  dreamer but a doer!

God said in Jeremiah 29:11-13

For I know the thoughts that I think toward you says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope. Then you will call upon Me and go and pray to Me and I will listen to you. And you will seek Me and find Me when you search for Me will all of your heart.

So how do you become a do-er and not stay a dreamer..

1. Pray that God will bless my dream

2. I plan to make goals

3. It doesn't have to be perfect.... just something nice!

4  Work on something everyday..take small steps

5. I hope to open up a Etsy store in 2010

Do you have dreams? If so I would love to hear about them.....Let me know so I can pray for you!!

Many Blessings,

Renee

Sounds like you have a good plan to put your dream into action! I pray all goes well with your venture :) .

I tend to be a dreamer, too... so many things I want to do, but I need to be more purposeful in actually pursuing the dreams. Thanks for the encouragement to be more of a doer as well.

Blessings,
Catherine

Oh Renee...you have touched a chord in my spirit. I am such a dreamer...my husband thinks I live in dreamland and I am a true romantic.

I like you would love to have a little shop, just like you mentioned. But I am not creative that way...but would love to sell other women's/men's creations....my dream is to have a small hobby farm.

We built a chicken coop this spring and yes now we see where next time we would do things differently...but we wanted a coop and so without plans we just built one...but oh the dreams I have ...I'm 45 and there is so many things that I dream about...but like you said I MUST be a do'er as well...and unfortunately, most of my dreams require $$$$...as like most people.

So if you are offering to pray for me...then could you pray that somehow God would provide for us our own farm. We just rent this vineyard that we are on. It's 10 acres and I long to own my own place once again.

Thank you...and blessings.

Connie

Your dream is not as impossible as you might think. You could open at Etsy store for starters. Our family is into woodworking, and about a year ago, we started an Etsy store. While it will never be something that can support us, it DOES provide an income for our teens. And it gives my son a place to showcase his work. We've sold internationally, just because the internet affords us the opportunity to do so. Some of my daughter's friends also have their own Etsy stores, where they sell their handcrafted jewelry and other items. I'm sure you could do well there.

And, yes, I have dreams too. We are knee-deep in the adoption process, and we long for the Lord to bring that dream to fruition. Also, we long to move back to Florida....we miss family so much and we just long to be close again. As I've gotten older, I've realized how important family is...and how much I long to be close while there is still the time.

Lovely post.

Blessings,
Patti

To have a mini-farm with garden tours...

Posted by vgauthier on Wednesday, November 11, 2009 at 09:58 - Link

not a mini farm as in small farm, but as in samll animals ~ mini-cattle, mini goats, baby-doll sheep, that kind of thing, I would like to expand our gardens/orchards to have a pick-your-own or visiting farm, an agri-tourism business of some sort...

Working to increase the garden parts each year, and getting a local reputaion for good produce and good knowledge, slowly working my way there.

Have to keep focusing on why I want this, cuz sometimes I take my eyes off of it, I am doing this to be able to bless others with what we grow and what we know ~ I want to help people be able to become more self-reliant and to see that God has given us each our own little spot, and we should use it to His glory.

Sometimes, though, I admit, I get wrapped up in the fun and passion I have for the garden and forget the why for a moment ~

Will I ever get there? I don't know, I pray for God to bless my dream, and I know He is blessing my current job ~ so it will be His decision which is my path (or maybe it's both as is currently is) ~ only He knows!

Great job on the bread. It looks really good. Keep trying as it truly does improve with time. I have been making bread for quite a few years and have just recently developed a recipe that comes out perfect every time. I bet you all had a great time eating it! Nothing beats home baked bread and the smell is wonderful.

I have many dreams but a lot of them are on hold during this season of my life. Between a lack of money and the kids being so young right now, I'm okay putting them on the back burner for a few years. :-)

I did have a dream come true this fall - I helped start my dream homeschool co op for the kids! I didn't think I could do it, and honestly, many times I felt like giving up because so many things went wrong each week... But we held fast, lifted it up to God for His blessings, and He blessed us abundantly! We have 5 families and 11 kids this semester, and we are doubling our numbers for the spring.

Even though this isn't a lifelong dream - only something that I've contemplated the last couple of years - it has been exciting to have a dream come true. :-)

(Thats also a big reason my blog sits empty these days - the co op keeps me very busy, it's way more work than I dreamed it would be, lol!)

Wonderful post. I am a dreamer and I am living some of those dreams now. :) I am dreaming of a little farm in the country in the upper peninsula of Michigan. One day that dream will be a reality...I believe that.
