Welcome Dearest Friends to Little Glorieta

The quiet of morning

Good morning Dearest Friends,

I pray today finds you well and that the Lord is clearly guiding your steps this day.

I awake earlier than the children to have some nice quiet time and to read on the computer. When we went on vacation I found some wonderful software that has many Bible resources. One of which are lovely devotionals. I am so thankful for such a find. As well as the storehouse of books we brought home. Some purchased, some were free...but all a blessing!

Last night one of our pasture dogs got out and when the children finally got her after midnight she had been used as a chew stick by our other much larger pasture dog. When the children rise today we will have to talk about whether or not that was Sugar's last offense. She is a gentle giant...but as time goes on she is more giant that gentle unfortunately. This will cause great sadness for all of us, as we have loved her so. But earlier in April she got out and refused to go back in the pasture and caused our oldest daughter to fall.  She was in tears as she thought she had broken her leg. Praise the Lord; she had not...just an extremely bad sprain. After 4 hours in the emergency room. She still has to use a heavy brace on her foot or wear her lace up boots. I forget about her ankle until I look at her and see her outfit. She at times, looks like a throw back to vintage Victorian though they were purchased from a western store or maybe even early pioneer times with those boots on. We are becoming so accustomed to it; I forget she is still struggling for healing. So Sugar may have to find a new pasture and a new family.  We submit to God's will as to ownership of this animal.

The chickens race across the yard this morning. We have our first hatchlings this year and all were just so excited to see the Mama Hen set the eggs and the chicks hatch out. While we were gone some of our baby guineas got out and died. So my husband stopped yesterday and picked up 6 more. I love my guineas. They tell me when something is wrong. They live around the house and "patrol". :) When Pepper got into the main yard last night...the guineas were letting me know there was trouble. Unfortunately Pepper and the other pasture dog, Sugar...love to kill and eat our chickens, turkeys and guineas. So we must keep them all separate. So now we start again...though our chicken flock and guinea flocks are of good size.

We also have a sweet little goat born unexpectedly. We bought the does this spring and they were "too young to be bred"….as the gal told us. Both does came pregnant. The second doe had her little buck while we were gone. She was not producing milk. So a friend and her daughter came by and picked him up and took him home to nurse. "Scotty" is staying with them. He was being fed and kept in the house. They had wanted to purchase goats from us and so the Lord had a plan even for this little goat. We were just sad to not get to see him. As soon as we can we will drive out and see him. Our little buck on the property is quite the little king of the hill player. Even one so young has such strong personality. He is a hoot. And every time we go out...he bleats and bleats to get our attention. So cute!!! God is amazing even in these little bucks born from Mamas too young. We pray the Mamas will be all right and will breed them again next year. So much fun!!!
