She's been at it again!

Check out this amazing book bag that our Sami created from old soda cans (that she collected from the youth group at church) and worn out jeans.  She designed and made it herself!

Theo Jansen - Modern Day DaVinci

http://www.homeschoolblogger.com/canadagirl/

This is just too neat not to share....

I just think this is so amazing!  Isn't it incredible how art and engineering just sort of

meld together as one?  That's just the way God is - having made things to work together.

Nothing seems to stand alone -

it is all intertwined and interdependent in one way or another.

Tightwad Tuesday - Window Cleaner

http://www.homeschoolblogger.com/Canadagirl

 Casement Window

GLASS AND WINDOW CLEANER

If you've bought any Windex lately, you know it can get pretty pricey.  Here's an alternative that costs pennies...

1/2 c. ammonia
1 pt. rubbing alcohol
1 tsp. laundry detergent
2 qt. water

Mix the ingredients in a large bottle.

Makes 2 quarts.

Simple Woman's Daybook

For...  Monday, June 14th

Outside My Window... an evening thunderstorm is rumbling in.

I am thinking... how peaceful things are right now after such an eventful day.

I am thankful... my daughter's trip home today ended well, even though she missed her connecting flight in Atlanta.

From the kitchen...Warm beefy stew.

I am wearing...one of my hubbie's big oxford shirts and lounge pants.

I am creating...a mural of Noah's Ark on the wall of a classroom at church in the morning.

I am going...to see my friend from Va. in a couple of weeks (after 10 years!)

I am reading..."The Maker's Diet" by Jordan Rubin

I am hoping...To have time to watercolor paint this week.

I am hearing...the rythmic breathing of my sleeping dh.

Around the house... all is quiet - except for the occasional 'Woof' from our Gracie, who is telling the thunder rumbles to go away.

One of my favorite things...my son's visits with his guitar to my studio while I'm out there working.  Today, he was writing the music to a poem his roomate from camp had penned.....amazingly, almost hauntingly, beautiful!  I love when we can spend that time creating together.

A Few Plans For The Rest Of The Week:  Organizing our school books, and getting some watercolor painting finished.

Here is picture thought I am sharing...
Several of the compacts from my vintage compact collection, on the little ledge/shelves that I made to display them in my studio.

On Faith:

Found this little treasure in my email this morning.....

When the sun is shining and all is well,  it is easy to have faith.
When the family is at peace, it is easy to feel at peace.

When the shelves are full and there is money in the bank it easy is to be happy.

                      But,

when life takes unexpected u turn for the worse,

as it does once an while,

it is way to easy to lose faith.

To do so  is a great mistake, for during the darker days of life,

we cultivate faith in God, in ourselves and in our own abilities.

                      George Macdonald said:

"A Perfect faith would lift us absolutely above fear"

So when we are armed with faith that is grounded in reality of the possibilities,

we can bring forth the courage to face our challenges head-on.

And when we do this we will be at the power of our Mountain-Moving Faith.

                    Jesus said:

"If you have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall

say unto this mountain,  Remove hence to yonder place:

it shall be move and nothing shall be impossible unto you."

                                                                                                                              Matt.17:20

So with that thought Lets begin to move mountains.

Have a Blessed Day today and be a Blessing to someone!

Some lovely, little ladies my daughter met while on her missions trip to Costa Rica this spring...

This pic was snapped just milli-seconds before the soccer ball (...there in the right-hand side of the frame...) hit and created an explosion of multicolored skirts and screaming!

Simple Woman's Daybook

For...  Monday, June 16th

Outside My Window... is a saturated landscape, all green and lush after yesterday's much needed downpour.

I am thinking... how wonderful it is for dh to be having his first day back to work after his kidney stone surgery.  He's missed it.

I am thankful... that our year-end evaluations went well - and for a healthy, happy family.

From the kitchen...I'll be baking a couple dozen whole wheat rolls from freshly ground red wheat later this morning.

I am wearing...an embroidered, short sleeved cotton top and jean capris with bare feet.

I am creating...a more organized studio - moving all of the photo boxes and scrapbooking supplies back into the house, leaving the entire studio for art supplies and all of my favorite knick knacks.

I am going...to Brown's Farm later on for fresh corn, strawberries and snaps! Yummo!

I am reading..."The Design of Everyday Things" by Don Norman

I am hoping...Tucker is having a good time at his music camp.  Unlike rowing camp, which is local, music camp is 2 hrs away and for 10 days.  Though he left just yesterday, I miss him already!

I am hearing...Sami digging the sewing box out of the cabinet while talking about the alterations she's going to make on her swimsuit.

Around the house... All is so very quiet, with ds#1 at music camp, ds#2 at rowing camp, dh back to work, and dd#1 out too.

One of my favorite things...is the time each evening when everyone comes home and shares about their day.

A Few Plans For The Rest Of The Week:  The studio organization and also getting books and curricula ready for the big used book sale next week.

Here is picture thought I am sharing...

We were so amazed at the size of these horns that we just had to stop and take a picture!  Judging from her reaction, (she stopped grazing, looked up, and smiled...) it seems this beefy girl was used to the attention!  A real celebrity!

Welcome!

Photobucket
Welcome to my lazy little place on the web. A place to slow down and take an occasional break from the everyday routine.

About Us...

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket My sweet hubbie took the quirky little picture you see above. Contrary to what it may seem to indicate, the kids and I are not usually found sitting around together looking like sardines packed in mustard sauce. We were actually loaded up in our little space capsule at the St. Louis Arch - ready to ride to the top! Now THAT was a cool field trip!! When we're not on field trips, you'll find us living our dream on a lovely little lake in the Lake Region of N. Central Florida - with lots of cows, horses, raccoons, opossums and gators for neighbors (...there are a few humans as neighbors too!). We're going into our 13th year of homeschooling, and even though all of our homeschooling children are now high schoolers, we still enjoy the eclectic, hands-on, literature based, Charlotte Mason method that we always have. The Lord has blessed us in so many ways, and to Him, alone, we give all the praise and glory! Soli Deo Gloria!!

believe in His Son and you’ll experience one!

Art is an amazing adventure...

...hold still now, so I can sketch you!

Keep believing...

There are those who say it can't be done -

That your dreams are too big

and your hopes too high.

They must not know the size of the God you serve.

Keep believing!

“A friend is someone who knows the song

in your heart and can sing it back to you

when you have forgotten the words.”

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

We are...

...a Christian family desiring to raise our

children with the primary focus on

Training their Hearts!

III John 1:4

"I have no greater joy, than to hear my

children walk in truth."

Proverbs 22:6

"Train up the child in the way he should

go, and when he is old, he will not depart

from it"

Deuteronomy 5:29

"Oh that their hearts would be inclined

to fear me and keep all my commands always,

so that it might go well with them and their

children forever!"

Train up a child in the way he should go

— but be sure you go that way yourself.

The character of our children tomorrow

depends on what we put into their hearts today.
