This week's topic is "Homage."

Once upon a time, long, long ago, there lived a princess who loved shoes.  She had such a fabulous collection of footwear, it was legendary throughout the entire kingdom.  There were sneakers, boots, sandals, slippers and clogs of all sorts, not to mention the pumps... high-heeled pumps of every color in the the rainbow and every variation of every color of the rainbow.  All was peaceful and perfect in the kingdom, until one fateful day.

That was the dark day when, seemingly out of nowhere, the monster Arthur appeared.  And, while the princess was away, slithered into her closet and made off with her treasured shoe collection, ruthlessly leaving only the less-than-beautiful orthopedic oxfords.

Drat you, Arthur Itis - you hateful stealer of fashionable footwear!

  So, in homage to the princess'  once glorious shoe collection I submit the following rendering of a couple of old favorites...

 I thought this old journal entry (done after a surgery I had several years ago) would be very

appropriate for today's topic of "stitch."   

One night, I dreamt I was a butterfly.

When I read the topic for this week's Illustration Friday, it brought back memories of how the kids used to play pirate ship in their tree house.  Many an afternoon was spent in the drama of a swash-buckling adventure.  Usually, the first order of business, and the main debate, was about who would be the captain of the ship.  Somehow, almost always, the honor would go to the eldest.......our fiesty redhead!

King's Kars

(I know...you're scratching your head on this one...)

The idea was to do a parody, of sorts, on King Kong's famous movie poster.  Don't really know where that came from.  Funny coincidence - the little "Fay Wray" figure hanging from the window of the red car (...or is that a mini van?) has an uncany resemblance to a certain Mom / Illustrator.  Well...we all handle stress in different ways!  :-)
