Saturday On The Farm 3/11

Goodness have we been getting the snow LOL. The Littles were bundled up and taken out for a very short time and the middles got to stay out and throw snow balls and build snowmenÂ…I have some Very tired and happy dc right now.

We lacked in the planning area w/this stormÂ…Tony and Stephen who still work down by the old place had to take tonight and possibly tomorrow night off from work because of the snow. Guess who never thought of snow tires for any of the vehicles? With road closings and warnings to stay off the roads I wouldnÂ’t want them driving 2 hrs. each way regardless.

In addition to children enjoying the snow, our pups have been hilarious! Our Anatolians are pure white and it was a lot of fun watching them have their first snow experience. I lost Aslan (smallest/youngest of the 2) in a high drift briefly. Brock wasnÂ’t too pleased. He observed everyone for a bit and then asked (whined loudly) to go back in to lie in front of the fire.

HereÂ’s some of what we did today:

*before 9 a.m routine complete (animal chores took quite a bit longer because of the weather and making sure the animals were comfy)
*daily maintenance chores

*teens did school (as per our agreement – 2 days/wk during break times so they only have to school 2 days/wk the rest of the time)
*made butter
*started cheddar

*Baking...we made sausage and cheese muffins, sandwich loaf and pepperoni bread for snacks and several batches of cookies

*snuggled w/read alouds in front of the fire and then 5 & 8 yr. olds put on one of their puppet plays for the Littles
*vacuumed family room, living room, library and halls

*dh did PE w/the middles and teens

*dh had play time w/Littles

*16 yr. old ds made us a delicious dinner - Crockpot meatloaf, garlic mashed potatoes, glazed radishes, carrots and peas and choc./caramel brownies (11 yr. old dd made the dessert)

*evening animal chores

*normal bedtime routine for the Littles

*dh having game time w/the middles right now

*rest of the evening will be spent w/us all together and I think weÂ’ll probably put on a movie once the 5 & 8 yr. old go to bed. IÂ’ll alternate between watching the movie and peeking in on mssg. boards (w/my desk set up I get the best of both worlds!)
