Sitting at my kitchen table

Posted in Just about life

What a tiring day it has been.  We began taking down the Christmas decorations today but still are not finished.  I will get them when all have gone to bed tonight.  We are running behind because we spent the weekend at my mom's (she just lives next door but we still weren't home until bedtime each day).

My alpha rooster, Swats, was making a nest for his favorite lady today.  I think they think it is getting to be spring with the warm weather we are having in the afternoons.  He was so cute smoothing the sides of that nest with his big ol' chest and making the sweetest little clucking noises.  That nest is so deep and smooth now for Jenny to lay in.  However, we took her egg today.  I bet she is one mad hen!  She lays the pretties baby blue eggs you have ever seen.  We had to clip wings today as the young hens figured out that they could fly over the fence.

I found a huge rosemary bush at Home Depot on Sunday on clearance for $4.00 so I had to get it out today.  Our ground is pure Georgia clay and like digging in bricks.  I put some of the rosemary in my chicken and rice tonight and it had the best flavor.  What a treat!

I made laundry detergent today because we were just about out. I just love the smell of it.  While I am making it, the house smells so good and clean.  Now, I have to do all of the laundry tomorrow that built up over the weekend.  The kids are big helpers though and do a lot of their own laundry.  It is supposed to be 65 here tomorrow so I should be able to hang everything outside instead of inside in front of the fire.

I am sitting here at the kitchen table now with Hannah and Charlie.  They are chatting getting ready for our nightly game time while David showers.  All of the dishes are done and all that remains is sweeping the kitchen floor.  I want to redo this kitchen this week.  Take everything out of the cabinets and pantry and reorganize.  I got new dishes and glasses from my cousin for Christmas and still haven't put them away because I want to redo the cabinets.

I need to bake bread tomorrow as it is going to be a warm day with no rain.  I will post my bread recipe tomorrow.  It is so yummy and extremely easy.  I am going to make up a big batch of bisquits for the freezer too.  I like freezing them individually in case anyone ever wants one they can just fix it in the toaster oven.

Well, the dogs need to be walked and the floor swept so I will run for now.  See you all tomorrow!

Sounds like a blissful day. You are truly blessed, my friend. I look forward to reading more in the future ~ especially the biscuit recipe. My youngest dd is our biscuit maker and she loves trying new recipes.

Have a great evening.
