At our local library I stumbled upon this book, "Mrs. Dunwoody's Excellent Instructions for Homekeeping: Timeless Wisdom and Practical Advice" by Miriam Lukken. It is, well, excellent! Mrs. Lukken has created a fictional character named Mrs. Dunwoody. She is an elderly lady living during the Reconstruction Age after the War of Northern Aggression (Sorry I just had to put that, but just joking). Mrs. Dunwoody (there is a city in metro Atlanta called Dunwoody) fills out notebooks of her role in keeping of the home. She gives her daily routines, all-natural cleaning supplies, country cooking style recipes. Mrs. Dunwoody gives correct table settings and how to behave at these tables as well as throughout your day. There is also a chapter on health and beauty. She gives you ideas on gardening as well. This is a very fun, historical, and informative book on how to keep our home. I highly recommend finding a copy at your local library.
Blessings, ~Farrah |
