Milling Wheat

Posted in Homemaking

After listening to "The Bread of Idleness" CD by Sue Becker, I felt convicted to start milling my wheat.  When I was homeschooling many of my friends were milling and were trying to get me to start.  I bartered with my son's old clothes and toys for bread until my friend became pregnant with her 4th child.  I forgot about milling for a year or so until I stumbled upon her cd again last November.  I told my husband that I wanted a mill for Christmas.  He took it a step further and got me a mill, bread machine and 2 1lb buckets of wheat (hard red and white).  I began milling almost a month ago.  I can't believe how much bread we now go through because the kids love it!

In Mrs. Becker's CD she mentions how because of the natural and high quality vitamin E the warts on her children disappeared.  I thought well that's hogwash.  Well, after less than a month the warts on my 8 year old's hands that have been there for 2 years have disappeared!  They are completely gone and his skin is perfect.  My 12 year old's immune system has increased.  My husband, other son, and I have been fighting colds for awhile now, but Nick hasn't gotten sick once and he eats more bread than any of us!  God has provided something amazing and yet it isn't really known.  I could kick myself for not milling quicker.

I am wondering, does anyone know where to order organic grains that are cheaper than $25/6 gallons?

Y'all have a wonderful day!

Blessings,

~Farrah

I just listened to that CD a couple of weeks ago. I am now desperately wanting a mill. I do bake all of our own bread, but have never milled our own wheat.

Thanks for this post spurring me on a little more. :)

I have been thinking about milling for my family and I thought maybe it really was not that important to do it myself. But you have made a believer of me.

I am now off to see how to get this cd you are talking about. And I need to see how much a mill is going to cost me.

Thanks again,
Pat

Hi there Farrah, Thanks for your supportive words! Speaking of wheat... I would also love to mill our own wheat. Currently the best we can buy is stoneground organic..as I dont have a mill, but who knows how long its been on the store shelf........Now that u bought it up, its reminded me how important it is to have fresh flour, and might just help me convince hubby to buy me one.!
Blessings,
Sita

Hello! I get my wheat berries at a local Natural Foods Store. Do you have one near you?

Seriously? Vanishing warts? I feel woefully behind the times here now! We have been plagued with warts on the hands on our youngers since moving. I couldn't find any thoughts as to why, so I chalked it up to the drastic change in climate and all, the stresses of leaving family and friends in such a hurry (we literally purged, packed and moved in 8 days!)
But our bread baking did slack off a bit, and we did forego milling fresh sometimes to use up the ground flour we had in store here.
Wow. Back to baking and milling fresh for us! We have tried everything OTC for these warts for over a year now!
