Fri-27-Nov-2009 - Plain Jayne Soap (w/pics)

Posted in Thoughts & Ideas

This is kind of random, but I thought I would make the offer and see if anyone is interested.

I really enjoy making soap … the whole process is just neat. I enjoy doing all of the calculations to make sure everything is sponfied properly, the parade of drying soap on my counters. And using it on my babies, from their hair to their little toes!

Jonathan made me a much larger soap mold one evening recently, and I had a terrific time using it this week. [Note, in the picture above is about half of the oils I ended up using!]

Because the mold is so much larger, I have a lot of soap. I had planned to keep it … and just not make soap for a while. But, if anyone is interested, I’ll sell it for a $1.50 a bar.

***Edited to add: I am very tickled to actually have responses to this! Whooo! So I want to include more info.

You can mail a check, but I also take Paypal.

**** NEW **** UPDATED S&H INFO****

Shipping up to 8 bars is $5 S&H

9-50 (or more) bars would be $10 S&H

****END UPDATE LOL*****

Something along those lines, I’m thinking. It is very hard for me to wrap my mind around planning for something that no one might take me up on.

It normally wouldn’t cross my mind, but this was the first batch in a few years that Jonathan has cut. He cuts very uniform bars compared to me, I’m pretty slap-dash.

So I was just watching him cut, and dreamily stacking the bars to dry, and I was thinking that for Plain Jayne (no scents or additives), it really is a beautiful bar of creamy white soap! They average 4oz a bar, and if you can find this size of bar online for under $3, I would like to know. J

[Yes, the tops are wrinkled and rough like that. It doesn't bother us. If it bothers you, we can trim it.]

So, I wanted to toss the offer out there. If anyone is interested, my email is on the left sidebar. All my soap is Ph tested, to make sure it is very gentle for use on my babies.

If you do not want a moisturizing soap, this isn’t your soap. It lathers well, the opposite of store-bought bath bars. The more water you use, the more it will later. It will not leave you feeling dried out, which is what many people associate with being clean after bathing with detergents. There is a difference between removing dirt and sweat and going deeper and taking up your skin’s natural protective layers of moisture. It just isn't necessary.

It is really great to shave with, too. Because it doesn’t dry your skin, it will reduce nicks and razor burn. I haven’t had razor burn in years. J

Anyway, hope ya'll enjoy the pictures at least. LOL
