Mon-21-Jul-2008 - The Miracle of the Pear Tree
Last year, Jonathan cut down some dead trees in the back yard.
He also trimmed up this "alive" tree, though it was leaning so he considered cutting it down. He was a bit chain-saw happy at the moment, but I said I thought the leaves of this particular tree were pretty, so he trimmed it and let it stand.
This year, it is loaded with pears. I'm a bit in shock. WE HAVE A PEAR TREE IN OUR BACK YARD!!!!!
It's not like we have a forest back there. Within the fence we have a giant maple, this pear tree, and two scrawny slippery elms by my clothesline.
It's a PEAR TREE. Loaded with PEARS!!!!!!!
Organic pears . . . is there any chance I'll have enough to can some? I have no idea yet. They aren't quite ready . . . .
God is so good!!!

How fun having a pear tree. My parents planted fruit trees in our yard but they are gone now and I can't remember what the deal was with them?
I actually like living where we do. If you can't live in the country it's nice to live where you don't have to drive forever to get to everything. Funny thing is when my parents bought this house they bought it because it was farther out of the city. Now the city is at the end of the subdivision. The main road through the city was 2 lane in front of our subdivison now it's a 6 lane highway! Yikes! We have a big yard and our subdivison is quiet surprisingly.
It is easy to eat out though since it's right out the door practically! Jennifer
