Pure Olive Oil Bar

Posted in Nature
Oh since I have been on the lookout for soap-making supplies, I have been trying to find pure olive oil. Kerimae gave me a recipe, which I posted about already, that called for grated pure olive oil. When I read that I was like "grated???". How can you grate olive oil? Hmmm... ok, so after my first soap-venture, I couldn't find it. I then asked Kerimae and she said to look for "Kiss My Face" brand, which we have bought hygiene stuff from. I found a bar of pure olive oil. Yippeee!! I was amazed at how low the cost was too... $1.79. I bought two bars. One for making soap and the other to try on my face. I have been having bad acne/blemishes so I thought I'd give it a try. Olive oil is really good for your skin anyway.

So the other night I washed y face with the POO and it made my face really smooth. I did it again last night and... WOW. It really works. My face is already clearing up. Woot.

I would definitely try this. The only ingredient is olive oil in soap form. lol Hopefully in a few days my face will be blemish free.

I am going to attempt to make goat-milk soap today. I got everything I needed. I am going to try both castille soap and this pure olive oil. I also got some organic orange "flavouring" for it too.

Everyday household items...

Posted in Nature
Here are a few things that we use in our home. Everyday household items...

Vinegar
- We have a few uses for vinegar. It is a great cleaner. Wash our cloth diapers in it to make the smell out. We put it in our animal's water to keep the flies off of them. The flies don't like the bitter taste or smell of it.

Peroxide: I use this to rise out my mouth after I brush my teeth. It is like a bleach and will whiten them. It's also good for mouth infections and sores. Last year my gums were bleeding and I could barely brush or touch them because it was such an excruciating pain - but after I started rising and brushing with the peroxide it cleared up.

Honey mix with baking soda: We used this on our face as a wash. The grain-y feeling from the baking soda worked as a scrub and the honey has lots of vitamins in it to help the skin. Honey is also good if you're feeling sick. It has lots of Vitamin-B which will calm your stomach and then you won't feel like you need to throw up.

Eggs: I've used eggs as a shampoo and it made my hair feeling really soft and fuller. I've read some things about what they make shampoo out of and it can do more harm than good. So I took two eggs and mixed them up and then washed my hair. You can add different things to make it have a scent. I've heard of adding vanilla, honey and other spices.

Alcohol: works great on poison ivy. When I got it last month I continually put it on the ivy and it dried it up. I also use it sometimes on blemishes and pimples on my face - to dry them out.

Olive Oil: Mom has been using this on skin irritations for sometime. When my sister had a bad dry area she put OO on it. Dunk a clove of garlic in it and stick in your ear for an ear-ache or infection. Works every time. Rub garlic-olive-oil on your chest when you're congested.

Cornstarch: We use this for baby powder instead having to buy some. Works great. You can also take a handful of cornstarch and sprinkle it over a pile of ants/ant hills. They will eat it and then it will kill them as it makes their stomachs bloat. No need of harmful pesticides.

I know there are more but that's all I can think of right now. Just finding ways to use everyday household items instead of having to buy harmful chemicals.

Have any you'd like to add to the list?

Lemons & Salt

Posted in Nature

Today I cleaned the kitchen. I want to make it sparkle. I think I accomplished my goal. I was wiping down the counters after I had done the dishes and cleared the counters. There was an old lemon sitting on the counter so I used it, with some salt, to scrub down the counter tops. It worked really well. The acid from the lemon worked like a bleach and the salt grains worked to wash, but not scratch, the surface.

I then decided to clean the copper kettle, which didn’t look very copper-ish anymore. I poured salt on the lemon and began to scrub the kettle vigorously. Within minutes the side of the kettle began to look like a brand new penny. I continued to scrub the kettle until the entire thing was sparkling.

With pride and joy, I placed it back in it’s places.

A few years my sister and I wanted to clean our pennies. I had remembered from when I was in kindergarten that my teacher showed me how to clean pennies by using vinegar and baking soda… don’t even try to imagine what happened when we did that.

I might have been wrong… it coulda been baking powder. Lol

Anyway, nothing we tried worked so we decided to look on the Internet. We found a site that said this lady accidentally squirted tocabell hot sauce on his pennies and when she wiped it off… the penny was so shinny.

So we looked in the fridge to see if we had any, and we did! We placed in on the penny and it worked perfectly! You just let the hot sauce sit on the penny for a minute and wipe it off. We also tried ketchup, which also worked well.

If you want to know why the sauces clean the pennies… I will give you a short answer: vinegar. If you want to really know why, go look it up. You’ll find some pretty interesting stuff. You could even use it has a science experiment.
