No More Dr. Pepper, Please!

Posted in Facts
This is actually an old post I found while sorting through my categories. I thought it was kind of funny because when I posted this I wasn’t eating ANY junk food, and now I find myself eating quite a lot.

—————————————————————-

Belly Flab Won’t Go Away?
If you avoid simple sugars such as candy, cookies, juices, pop, cake, and chocolate you will see amazing changes. When you eat Carbohydrate food such as Fruit or Whole grains, be sure to pair it with protein and a fat. This will decrease blood sugar response. Choose Whole grain carbs while avoiding anything with white, such as white bread and white rice. You can find brown rice at your local wal-mart store.

If you follow this principle, you will be creating a very stable and even blood sugar level. This combined with calorie control and exercise is sure to reduce inches around you waist.

The first few days you might feel tired and lethargic. This response is your body withdrawing from sugar. Yes, Sugar is an addiction and when you go cold turkey, you will feel extra tired for a day or two. After this initial phase-in period, you will find that you have extra energy that you no longer crave sweets!

This diet requires LOTS of water, about 64 ounces of pure, unflavored a day. This will keep you from carving sweets and will keep your energy up.

Here are a couple suggestions for starting out. These have just the amount of carb, fat and protein you need.

Breakfast:
· (½ c. dry) oatmeal topped with ½ apple, cinnamon, and one hardboiled egg.
· 1 slice of whole grain toast topped with 1tbsp of peanut butter and tbsp of low sugar jam.
· 2egg served with a whole wheat muffin.

Here are some good snacks for the between meals hunger:
· 1 string cheese with a handful of berries
· 1 rice cake with a smear of peanut butter.
· 1 small Orange with 10 almonds
· A glass of skim milk with 5 wheat crackers.
· A whole grapefruit
· 4 ounces of low fat yogurt with a tbsp a chopped walnuts.

And also if you’re just looking to tone up your muscles, do some situps. Not 15 or 20. I’m talking like at least a hundred at one setting.

—————————————————————-

There is a lot of good, healthy info right there, you know. I should read through my blog more often! I wish I were still all crazy about only eating things that were %100 healthy for me. Sigh.

But HEY - Mom and I are giving up Dr. Pepper. Yes, I know it’s terrible, but it’s not good for me. It IS! I know it! I don’t think I’ve gained any weight drinking it, but I think my face does look fuller since I have become addicted to it. I did have ONE cup today and none yesterday, which is pretty much amazing. I can’t believe I actually went a whole day without it, but when you don’t have something within your reach you can’t have it!

Keep all the soda-pop, chips, chocolate, and other forms of non-healthy food out of this house and AWAY from me!

It’s not about being overweight. It’s about being healthy and fit. These are our temples and the Bible speaks about taking good care of them. We can’t act on our fleshly desires… no matter how close the Dr. Pepper bottle is to your cold cup of ice!

Maybe once I get this under-control (Dr. Pepper addiction) I will really work on getting to bed at a descent time. I have actually gone to bed earlier than usually these past few nights (except last night because I had a deadline). I’d like to start running or walking in the morning, but I can’t do that if I don’t get up IN the morning.

So anything that you should give up that would make you healthier, even if you don’t want to? C’mo, I know there’s something… even if it doesn’t have to do with food.

Each day has a different color twist tie. They are: Monday = Blue, Tuesday = Green, Thursday = Red   Friday = White and Saturday = Yellow. So if today was Thursday, you would want red twist tie; not white which is Fridays (almost a week old)! The colors go alphabetically by color Blue - Green - Red - White - Yellow , Monday through Saturday. Very easy to remember.

States Exploration

Posted in Facts

Hello! I am making lists of bloggers from each state/country. I even got a blog just for the lists. It’s called: State Exploration. Yes, Sylvia another one, and my family does not just have seventeen blogs… it’s more like twenty-five. Anyway, nothing else will be posted on this blog only the lists and the icon/codes. The reason I picked “State Exploration” for the username/title is because we are exploring our own state to find other homeschoolers, but we are also going to be exploring our state for information. (See below)

Now, you’re part of my State Education School, and I will tell you what that is. Each Thursday check out my blog for your “assignment” (ie: State flower, State bird, famous person from your state), and you can put a little blurb with the assignment answer on your blog. This is designed to help you, personally, learn about your state and others will also glean from it. I really, really hope you all will participate. I know it will be so much fun.

And, I am stressing you all to participate because I have found, and I hate to say this, that the “kids” of HSB are terrible at keeping a weekly meme/tidbits. I have seen moms post something specific every week, but it’s like moving a mountain to get kids to do it.

That is why I want commitment in doing this. It isn’t hard. It’s going to be fun and you’ll be able to learn something. Maybe you can tell your parents and have it counted towards your schooling. Mine will be, and you will have something to blog about when you can’t think of anything! You can just write something little or do an entire post about it.

On the State Exploration blog I will have the list of bloggers from (say Texas). You can get the state icon by looking at the first comment on each (state) post. You can copy and paste it right onto your sidebar.

I know there are some Europe/MiddleEast/Asia bloggers, and I will be getting a post for that too, and make-up icons as we need them.

As I get the list of bloggers/states together, I will add them on this post so you can have an easy outclick. The lists aren’t very big right now but as we go, they will.
